Thanks everyone. dogpile I still snitch rocks - it's an addiction. Spent all last fall going across the street stockpiling stone from the woods to replace a white picket fence and build a 100 ft wall (with a neighbors permission to use his yard to get there). Easilly 25 tons, never can have too much stone. I will post pictures of this project after the spring projects are done.
The stone was not from a wall. It was in piles from an old farmers stone dump.
Spring Blooms - Part 5
Those are the little gold mines I used to hit all the time. I had my helper grab a ton or so from a former neighbor's huge bird bath and flower bed edging. It was more of a random pile but it was nice large pieces of weathered lime stone. We got it one day ahead of the bull dozer shoving it in a hole. The house and all the junk was a blessing to see go down. Two young folks built a new home and did away with tons of junk as well as a lot of trees to let in the sun for a decent back yard. If I wanted ten pieces like that the nursery would hit me up for at least three dollars a piece. It is now stored on my property for one of our design improvements.
.......I missed a thousand or so bricks the guy had hidden on his front porch. To my dismay they all got shoved in the basement and covered over. Free or inexpensive is the only way to go when lady luck nods to us. I must control myself because I see interesting junk to gold suff all the time. My last jewel was a male bed pan of enameled steel. That just had to be a flower pot or an eBay offering someday. I see them selling for twenty five bucks and ship. ]:o)
too bad you missed the bricks - a few years ago a friend was having a stone patio built and needed to get rid of a brick walkway. It ended up having two layers of brick. They are now around my fire pit. Had to buy the last batch of city pavers for the front walkway. These are better bricks although free is always nice.
Everything looks great onewish. Do you know the cultivar of the pulmonaria? I have Mrs Moon, but I like yours better.
Beautiful spring flowers Onewish. I think I saw a hummingbird moth yesterday but it was very small. Do they start small and get larger? I have only noticed the full sized ones later in the season. I don't know if it really was one or some other bug that can hover in one spot. I like the pulmonaria too and the daffs. Creeping phlox is just starting here too.
Nice JM shots and great bench, Bill. Great shots rc, ngam and Allison. Looks like primetime, Allison!
Gorgeous daisy!!
Thanks Venu. There was a picture of this property taken from the 1930s and these quince were huge even back then!
WOW! WOW! WOW! It's been a busy bloomin' day. All of the pics are beautiful!! Eleanor
wow onewish, the hyacinths must smell heavenly! The mystery hellebore is very pretty too.
