Good morning!
I'm so glad I found this site. I purchased this plant because it reminds me very much of a wild plant that's in bloom now that I see growing along the roadsides here in Pennsylvania. I'm not sure if this domesticated plant is the same thing I see growing, but does anyone know what this pictured plant is? I searched through three books looking for it and couldn't find anything to exactly match - kind of close to some pictures of phlox??
Thanks and any help is much appreciated!!
could someone id this plant?
It looks like a Salvia of some kind. But I could be way off! New to gardening! Michelle
That's some sort of "stock" (genus Matthiola) http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=Matthiola&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search although I'm not familiar enough with them to know which one. I sure do like how they smell though :)
