I have a shaded yard in front about a hundred feet across with a driveway each side and would like to build a nice entrance near the street in front. I like pergolas,with/without lattice. English Ivy grows well here as does passion flower vine. Maybe some large grasses, big pots or planters, and/or a few feet of hedge on each side of the entrance. I would like some large bushy things in a line with smaller stuff in front. I would want it to go the fern height to 6 or 8 feet front to rear.
I am in Gainesville Florida but it does frost here a few nights each winter. My soil is just poor sand but topsoil can be had.
Get the picture? Well I don't and that is what I need help with, the picture. I am a carpenter and can build things but my design skills are poor. Ideas appreciated. Thank you.

That pink house is so cute. I've been looking for pictures for you, but this is all I've come up with so far: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.serenitywood.com/Raw%2520images/Landscape/front-house-xl.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.serenitywood.com/Landscape/index_landscape.html&h=487&w=648&sz=57&hl=en&start=88&tbnid=gCuneoIlpf4BiM:&tbnh=103&tbnw=137&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dentrance%2Blandscaping%26start%3D80%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN
