DAILY PICS VOL. 98

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

The Orange-crowned Warbler isn't too shy, so is fairly easy to photograph, but it sure blends with the surroundings.

The little Yellowthroat is so elusive, and when he does pop into sight he's usually gone before I can focus on him. I keep hoping for one really good image of this gorgeous bird.

I need to borrow your son too, Holly! My DH is not the 'handy' type.

Beautiful tiger! I would love to see a Yellowthroat!

Well, I got some weeding done and resued a lily bulb that was underneath a stepping stone I put in last year. Gave the dog a bath and brushing and 2 small loads of laundry done. Whew!

For those of you that enjoy the hummers, I'd suggest hanging some of last years cattails outside a window, for them to gather for lining of nests. It's given me much entertainment. These were stuck in the fence, and blown down, but I've a bunch of them now where I can see from inside.

Thanks for posting that on this thread Tiger. I saw it on the other thread and suggested it to others. So cool.

This must be the year of the Butter Butt's! Everywhere I go near water they are just all over! Mostly Audubons, like this one, but usually a Myrtle or two as well.

Just lovely with the apple blossoms. It's funny that you say acting like a pair. I just was outside and boy was a male house finch singing a song and hopping around on a branch for the missus. cute cute.

What is the the difference between the Audobon & the Myrtle??

Audubon's - yellow throat, broad white wingbars
Myrtle - white throat, narrow white wingbars
Otherwise the same, and they intergrade extensively where their breeding ranges meet (NW Canada)

The piglets (Goldfinch) weren't as active today.

Doesn't the Myrtle also have an eye mask that's absent in the Audubons?
