When we moved into our house and started we started this book.. its a converted photo album.. its by far the most important garden book we own.. its a record of our failures, sucesses, and what we just have to try again :)
My most important garden book, does anyone else do this...
I don't do it, but it sounds like a great idea.
I keep a garden journal, recording what date I start seedlings inside, what date things start blooming outside, when I pick the first peas, etc. I don't always remember to write in it, but it's handy to look back and see when I should be doing things. And I always title one page "Ideas for next year".
These are wonderful ideas! I've been blogging in DG with a few pictures but would love to have a hard copy that I can curl up with at night instead of a computer.

wonderful idea,I've tried to keep a journal in a spiral notebook but this looks much easier, besides I can keep photos of my veggies through the year and keep up with where I planted what.
I do that!! I don't label my plants in the garden, so I keep the labels in a journal instead. I used to keep my journal in a spiral notebook, but my accumulations have gotten somewhat -er- extensive over the years, so I moved the journal to a 4" 3 ring binder. I use it to keep pictures and/or tags of all the plants I buy and the locations I planted them, so I know if something did not come back or was not the plant I bought. The binder is divided up into sections--Shrubs, Roses, Tubers/Bulbs, Perennials, Vines/Creepers, Tender Perennials, Vegetables/Fruit/Herbs, and Dead (so I know what didn't work). I also keep note of bloom times (approximate), so I know when to expect things to bloom, and don't kill myself waiting, and experiences with different nurseries. The only thing I don't track are annuals, but I think I may start.
I love my book.
