Mrs-Ed, Yippee yippee yah yah yey It finally surfaced. Still some snow left though but in certain area, I see crocus, and some shoots. Great time for the spring dance.

Orchard Park, NY

You are welcome burn. Those waxwings are regular little vacuums! Nada left on the trees. Glad spring has sprung in your neck of the woods.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

As always, everyone has nice pics, and I have a lot of catching up to do after being away awhile.
Here is a barred owl from a Birds of Prey weekend show. She is blind in one eye, and red eyed from my camera.

Love the pictures folks. That Owl is neat.

I was watching the Robins working on their nest and got the following two pictures.

The first is Mr. Robin taking a break. I didn't think he could spot me where I was hiding..........

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of my exciting find on friday.

I was out in back of my work eating lunch with a pair of Binoculars. We're in a small coastal town on the north shore of Massachusetts. Out back is a tidal canal. I spotted a "Dairy" Woodpecker so I was watching that when I heard a Crow caw, as I was turning towards the Crow, another bird was flying over the canal (40 feet from me). It was a Belted Kingfisher! I watched it perched in the tree for a few minutes, then it dove. Not sure if it was successful or not, but I couldn't concentrate when I got back into work.

I had seen one before, but that was in FL and it was just sitting on a wire as we drove past. This one was right where I work everyday! Yay!

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

These guys are a real nuisance, but they sure are beautiful.

The first was shot through the screen on the window.

Thats great you saw a Kingfisher at work Shan!

Rose, Have you seen the Barn Swallow babies yet?

Orchard Park, NY

Yes Rose. Nice ENDing.

Oh yeh Nanny. That's her alright! Ms. Cowbird all by herself. No male in sight.

Wow. A kingfisher. They are so neat. Love their calls to each other.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks everyone...glad you liked the happy ending!! LOL!

Pelle...I haven't seen any eggs or babies yet as I keep forgetting to take a mirror and flashlight to the barn to check! I see them every year so I hope to get pics this year!

I think I have another pair of Eastern Phoebe's returning to a nest made on top of one of our porch lights last year! I had three nests made last year on top of light fixtures and sadly was not into birding and didn't have a clue who or what did the deed! This year I am more aware of what is going on around here!

Melbourne, FL

Your Indigo is gorgeous, Rose....great color. You'll probably start seeing more and be sure to watch for the brown females.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks GP! I went thru your posts yesterday looking at all the females!! I keep thinking I am seeing them but can't be positive. It is driving me nuts looking for them and wanting to keep them around!! I kept taking pics of what I thought was the female only to find that they were female Goldfinches! You are so fortunate to have gotten so many great pics for so many months!!

Thanks GG...Love your colorful birds as well!

Today is so gorgeous that I am working outside trying to get the porches and patio cleaned up for my potted plants!

I checked the barn and so far no eggs in any of the nests. The Barn Swallows will let me know by bomb diving me as soon as they start on the family. I saw them squabbling this morning and noticed another pair has moved onto the premises!! What entertaining birds...they are a comedy act for sure!!

Enjoy the day everyone...we will have rain for the next 4!!!

Here is a poor pic of a Spotted Sandpiper that was on our pond bank late yesterday. It is nice to see things start to come alive!!
