DAILY PICS VOL. 97

Orchard Park, NY

I'm going to go ahead and start a new thread with this guy/gal. He came this a.m., and again at noon all by him/herself. He's sleek, feathers looks like soft brown suade, finch-like beak, goldfinch-sized, maybe a little larger, was eating nyjer. Reminded me of a pine sisken, but wrong color.

Thanks for starting the new thread!

Looks like female Brown-headed Cowbird to me.

One more view Resin. I originally thought catbird because of the solid color, but he's solid toffee-brown, no black. cowbird. . . hmmm. Thanks.

Does look a little like a Catbird...here's one of mine.

cow . . . cat . . . . I agree with Resin. Thinner, longer body, finch beak. No meowing in my trees! I'll try to get another shot this evening. Last evening's visitors (I straightened the public baths with rocks!):

Still some Goldfinch around.

Wowzer! Great colors. They are so plain here. Just wait 'til the rosebreasted grosbeak lands this summer.

Looks closely! Three waxwings.

Closer-look at a Goldfinch. I have certainly enjoyed their stay this year. Last season I only saw a couple....this year I had dozens.

Any tips for making my photos larger when you click on them in the thread? Do I have to change something in the camera? Thanks. Your serve gp.

Love the Waxwings. Had them here over the winter but was never given the opportunity for decent pics. I have only seen a Rose-breasted Grosbeak once, and it was the duller female (sorry girls). Last pic for now, close-up of a Mockingbird.

What size are they, OP? I was wondering why yours were coming up smaller. I generally size mine to around 800X900.

Brave woodpecker at the suet today - chased away a couple starlings.

I'm guessing a female downy.

Thanks OP for the new thread. Enjoy your pics everyone.

Well they were back again today, pretty soon, they'll have eaten all the ones on the ground too. That's good, we won't have to rake them up. I'm letting the birds do the Spring cleaning, this year.
