Weeeee, it's a fast female. Even though it is cold out, she's not stopping, just flitting around.
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds- # 2
Congratulations indiana!
Nice pic Mrs Ed!
That's a good picture, Mrs. Ed!
Thanks, Pelle. I keep waiting for him to come back, but he hasn't yet. :(
OMG!! Just saw my second one of the day, and like Mrs. Ed, it's a female. Could it be that we will both be lucky to have them nest in our yards?
Another YAY!
I sure hope she nests…. I just went out and bought another feeder. LOL.
Indiana, congrats! Woohoo for two.
Mrs. Ed, nice pictures. Glad you both have females. I put up a second feeder yesterday, too, LOL.
Haven't seen her yet this morning. Hope she's still around.
Thanks Coo!
Great picture, Frank!
I hope that you did finally see your female yesterday, Mrs. Ed!!
Mine was still around yesterday, but I didn't see the male. I read somewhere that the females will nest away from the area the males have claimed, so maybe, just maybe....
Well, I have not seen my girl yesterday or today. I think I was just a rest stop on the way north. Boo.
Terrific Hummer pics, everyone!
Great pics of hummers. I just realized it's been a long time since I checked in to see what has been going on but I have been so busy with the garden and spring projects. I was wondering if anyone had spotted hummers yet and how far north they were getting. I have my feeders out but nothing yet but I'm a bit farther north than most of you. Eleanor
My hummers cometh, and then goeth away. What a tease. Oh well, maybe my yard is a regular rest stop on their travels northward. BOA (birdcamps of america)?
Right, Mine too, Coo!
grrr.
Mrs Ed, it's like a piece of candy, that brand new shiny red feeder, swinging softly in the wind. I don't understand how they can resist (it's driving me nuts, after all).
LOL! Right! I can't understand either. Heck, I'd even go for an oriole or a butterfly!!!
Meanwhile, I should be happy with my new white crowned and white throated sparrows.
She feels pretty!
Excellent shots Rose!!
Thanks Pelle!
Hi everyone :)
Mrs_Ed, I have a supposedly mister and I tried to hook it up to the hose last year and it didn't work :( I was sitting outside transplanting and thought that would be something to see to, I'm going to get a mister this year lol
Your alls pictures are great, I haven't seen any yet but it will be soon I'm sure!
OKay, I am officially jealous of Rose. Farm, Pond, great camera, kick @ss lens, numerous birds! I bet she even has a brain and does not leave her camera turned ON all night so that the batteries are dead in the morning.
Pretty sure my girl was just moving through. I'm okay with that as long as other show up. I have hope this year!
LOL again Mrs. Ed!! No I don't have a brain but the camera does and it shuts itself off in one minute if I don't use it!!!
Don't worry...your Hummers will be back and you will be so busy putting out sugar water!
You know, I thought mine shut off too. But I guess not. sigh.
This is not a great pic as I wasn't at all prepared to have one show up. I just happened to be at the window with the camera on!
My camera has a timer feature that can be set for a couple of different times to shut off automatically but I have it turned off. I have left it on a couple times. So I keep extra batteries charged at all times now! lol
First pic for 2008!
Very cool nanny! Congrats!
What feeder is that!
Aspects HummZinger Ultra -12oz. capacity
This is out in the back. I really like it because there's no dripping and easy to clean!
I think I might have the same one. :-)
I think that I might HAVE to have the same one. No dripping and easy to clean and 12 oz.! Yep. ;-)
Cool pic Nanny!! I have that feeder too and I love the ease of cleaning and it is so easy to take apart!
Nanny, Would you like to start a thread called
"Show Us your Hummingbird Feeders"?
I'm sure we'll see some interesting ones!
