Yes, controlled burn......however our neighbor lost control of his 'control burn' the other night. It went down into the woodline and the fire dept had to be called!
Spring Blooms - Part 4
Victor, between the abundance of life and control of light in your shots, I believe you have your own sun up there in the valley.
No flower pictures, maybe next year. Just planted the last of my Bluestone order and with pirl's help I'll be planting more.
I'm watering in Achillea
Aquiligea
Poppy
We really do need rain here in the east.
Jo Ann
I agree with the rain needs. I dug a new bed yesterday (for all my winter sowers) and couldn't believe how dry the soil is!
Thanks all. Yes it is very dry. Daisy - never had deer damage at all with that spirea.
My soil is still drying from the previous rains. Some areas are still saturated 3 inches below ground level. I think I have the worst clay around!
Dave, saw your post a few days ago about doing the picture thing. I am trying to learn how to take a picture, put it on the computer and get it to you. I have never taken pictures before. Steve is the family photographer. Once this is all figured out, you might ban me from this forum.
So here goes a few (I hope). First, the wisteria on the arbor.
wish I had one(:
jo ann
(Steve is the family photographer) NOT anymore! Those are wonderful and you are a natural!
BTW the Bowling Ball is wicked cool. (wink)
Looks very nice, Laurel! My only suggestion would be to make them a bit larger.
nice pics Laurel
The turkeys should sit till Nov!!
Aww, you call those turkeys Sherrie? Down here those are yard chickens. You should see the turkeys! Come on get your balls rolling.
Thanks Pixie. I try to fit in a "wicked' something or other wherever I can. Sounds so original down here I might get credit for inventing the expression.
Victor. Please expound. Are you teasing because it's a thumbnail or do I not need to compress so much. Steve said bring it down to 7. I told him I thought the resolution would be better when I learn to not rely on the automatic focus. Tjat will be My second time out with the camera. I'm hopin to take some photos here in Atlanta the next day or so. Please advise.
Amy, hope your play is going really well. I can empathsize. You can see I do costuming under Trash to Treasures (Sendak Costume thread). Not doing theater things anymore, but I do traveling exhibits.
Laurel
Something about 800 X 600 pixels is a nice size - has more 'wow' impact, yet does not require any scrolling.
Thanks for the advice. Steve was trying to be frugal with folks' memory. Rats Victor, now I have to learn to press those other buttons. Don't you know the "old dog" adage.
No problem!
Laurel.........I like what you are doing. The camera and you are not bad either!
...It would not be hard at all to tease me back into that type of artsey craft work.
Ahh, Dwaine, your the bomb. I tried to tell you that with the orchid and other stuff. So admire your doll restoration and would love to learn more about it. Are you posting your restorations anywhere?
Oh, Harper, just remembered about the DD doll photos. On my "to do" list for sure before I take of for Maypop.
Very nice, Deb!
Debilu...well done! What is the purple flower with the yellow center at the bottom?
Thanks guys!
The purple flower is a pasque flower, just planted them last year.
Well deb, you're way ahead of me in the up loading department. Really beautiful photos.
Fosteriana Tulips "Red Emperor"
Victor--your Heptacodium is tied to the stake. Appreciate the heads up about that plant and the suggestion I go ahead and plant it last fall. Looking good.
The arborvitae were here long before we arrived two years ago. I'm just letting them go as I can't get up there to cut them back (if that is what you are supposed to do). How big do these things get? Any suggestions on what to do with them?
Start trimming away at an archway through the them. Make nice flower beds on the side this picture shows. People will see it as an intended thing of beauty.
Pat, is that one Tahiti?? It's very pretty and I planted Tahiti so I was just wondering.
I'm not absolutely sure really, but that sounds right to me. I had them all labeled with my pics but all the files got zapped. They have a touch of orange in the center, one of my favs.
