Nice, Celeste!
Spring Blooms - Part 4
Nice pic Emily: I wish more nurseries would picture the plant with a group or other setting so we can see the size and shape, one flower doesn't cut it with me.I have to Google the plant to see it full size.
Victor, I swear that you notice something blooming during the day, glance at the sky to see if it's clear, check the angle of the sun, and then, when all the conditions are just 'right' you snap the shutter. That has to be one of the most beautiful forsythia photos I have seen!!
I finally have crocus blooming - or have I already said that? And the daffodil doesn't look too bad, either.
I'll get more shots later this afternoon while the littles ones are sleeping
Victor where did you plant the ugi? I have one to plant as will and have been struggling a bit on where it should go. First where it would look good and second how much protection and shade is needed.
Thanks Candyce! Bill - It's a mostly shady area. It will get very early sun and them just some dappled for the rest of the day. I recently installed a willow fence as a backdrop so it should look good there. I will also add other shrubs to complement it. I planted it with two other JM's - Omure Yama and Kamagata.
Willow fence looks great. Good idea . Jo Ann
Thanks - I like the look. Have stockade in other places and don't really like it. The only problem with the willow that I did not anticipate - you have to double it for real privacy.
Have you ever made a woven fence like they have in England?
I tried at the old house but used the wrong wood and it dried up and fractured in places I didn't want.
Fun to make though.
My girlfriends(artists) used to have "Women in the Woods" day. we would all gather at who ever had a woodlot that needed thinning and make trellises and arches and gates and free standing sculptures out of small supple Maples and wild grapevines.
Yep!!! compressor with nail guns, cordless drills, loppers, tree saws, brads and wire, spend the whole day come home with some great stuff. I grew climbing Nasturteums on one trellis and used it as a privacy wall .
Victor your amazing. I like your visions and enjoyable profit.
Speaking of profits. I bought a pkg. of Morning Glory Tall Mix - Burpees *Last year* They have the same exact pkg and picture online now, except the date has change for the "buy" date. I bought the pkg for 1.99 now they are 2.65. A jump of .64 cents in One year. I started them in seed starter Sunday. They have popped up even tho they are a year behind. What gives??
Thanks, Sherrie. I haven't made any profit yet!
Nice ukigomo! Mine is just barely budding out! i'm jealous!
Victor, this is going too far. I've already DMailed another DGer about the bar you are holding us to. I am just moving beyond the Brownie Instamatic era. Today, while trying to capture a special moment in the woods, I noticed that I was kneeling in a bed of poison oak. Mind you, I'm barely beyond remembering to take the lens cap off before shooting. Now that I've got that down, I've graduated to auto focus. Hope to have it all down in time to send pics of our thousands, and thousands of ditch lilies.
Ooh - hope you didn't get the rash! I'd love to see those lilies.
I must admit, Victor, when your yard wakes up - it wakes up with a lot of noise! Mine has a sort of stretch and lay there kind of way..
Ha ha. Thanks, Anita. Most of it is foliage right now.
Question about massage:
I know about potted perennials before planting, massage roots that is, What abour annuals?
Only if the roots look crowded. You got my immediate attention with that opening line!
Victor you do take some wonderful pictures. I particularly like the ninebarks and katsura. The sun shinning on and though them is quite lovely.
Thanks!
I thought massage would perk you up!!!!!
Thanks for the info Victor
Victor - thanks - looks like ugi is senstive to the sun - I just got hime from 3 days of biz travel and what was once a fully leafed ugi has mostly dried up leaves - not sure if it was sun or lack of water. Meant to water before hitting the road and didn't get to it. The little beni schichihenge who has been struggling in the container next to it was fine with a branch I thought was dead beginning to leaf out. Both are out of the sun and into sick bay under the porch with only sun through lattice for now. It should come back although pretty depressing. This week has been warmer and sunny so I'm it was just too much for the youug guy.
