Laurie, maybe you can read this, I sure can't
http://www.roulereve.com/Couts/Couts_RouleReve.html
Just let it come up, It moves
What I like about it is, the wood around the windows, on both.
The green and red one is the, porch.
The trailer has no door in the front, my thought is to make it kinda look like this, but with my potting bench in is place.
It is hard to find a pic, because the ribs in the pics are up and down, where the trailer is back to front. thats where the brown one comes in. need to change dimension on what ever I pick. LOL have been searching,
And we will cameo the tires, I have the wooden wheels.
wonderful collection of wagon pictures - really inspiring. I want one for down in the woods - I love the idea that painted green they would be almost impossible to find.
Great ideas Tils -
I will bring the pressure washer Tills! :0) That means you can spend more $$ on plants! Here are some fun ideas, http://www.sistersonthefly.com/ click on the "caravan trailers" tab on the left. Rach
Rach,
Oh my, I want one to travel in, one with a cowgirl and her six shooter...no skirt though, baby blue wranglers for me!
Who knew there was a world of gyspy caravans out there. Not me. Love the french ones. Must be my ancestors calling.
Rachel, those trailers simply scream "American kitsch", don't they?
tills, went to photo #251 and about dropped my teeth. It's hideous! Too bad is represents the U.S. to the website builders. Yours will be MUCH nicer!
Love the wrapped windows and the porch. Why couldn't you just do a porch off the door you have? Then do the potting bench on the end as you described, with maybe a little roof covering it? Guess your dh would have to approve since he would be the builder-man.
WW - where are the French ones?
Tills, what fun this will be!
At the above link www.roulereve, eight replies back.
Rach, those were to cool. Like the most.

And thank you again
Have Tues and Wed off, will get started on some good plans.
Pix once its all painted, then he will get into it, and play around with some ideas.
Going to be fun, LOL
Oh, I dib the vases with the flowers, I want one either side of the door!!! (don't caravan doors open out? Hmmm, okay I want two on one side)! Wonderful! I like the rust colour they are - with just a touch of gold highlight - Pix, I give you that task - remember, restraint. Maybe just some reminder colour touched in on the vases, as if they use to be that colour. Those are so nice. On the other hand - what the hey! Lets paint them pink, with loads of colour!!! Restraint is out the window, this is the 'flying purple bus' and it throws caution to the wind!!
those sisters are going to be envious of this caravan!
If you have a flat door that vase would look nice installed on it.
Something that seems to be one of the challenges with this project is the nature of the trailer paneling. It seems like lots of these fancy caravans have smooth sides to them.
I'm totally clueless about the cost of this, so my apologies if it's very expensive, but what if the trailer was sheathed in a layer of plywood? If it was measured and cut to fit and cover carefully, both the shape could be altered (At least as far as the appearance-You could even do slightly pitched roof with an overhang over the front), and a lot of the painting could be done flat-all the sanding and priming coats, and the base colors.
Then, when the base paint was done, all the pieces would securely screwed together and/or into the trailer, the paint touched up and the fine detail painting and decoration could be done in situ, hiding the screw holes, etc.
This would make some of the paint prep easier-no need to deal with metal paints and solvents. But of course, the wood would still need a good primer coat and at least a gallon of good semi-gloss or gloss paint. Still, HD paint is great stuff, and one gallon at around $25 will go a really long way. It might also be easier for a group to work on together?
Hope this won't throw a wrench in the works, but I thought it might be an interesting idea to think about before any work commenced.
But would you lose the caravan look? I really liked the ones on sistersonthefly - they just sort of celebrate that trailer/camper look.
I guess it depends on which type of caravan look Tills really wants to go for. IF she wants the barrel vault roof and gypsy paint, then this might take her closer to that?
If instead she'd prefer more of the sistersonthefly, then maybe this wouldn't be such a good idea, although the older vintage trailers were sometimes made of stained real wood, I think-kind of like the automobile version of a vintage Chris-Craft boat. I don't think the older ones had the "corrugated" (not sure that's really the word I want) texture/panels, either? Anyhow, just a thought I had.
Susy, Thats a good idea, but not what I have in mind, besides that my DH would have a heart attack if I spent money on plywood, it is not cheep. But food for thought LOL
I can not do the barrel type, its under the trees and would be destroyed the first Fall/winter when the winds start blowing & branches start falling.
I like the Sistersonthefly ideas, the one I like the most is on page 4 #41, the one that looks like a cabin, but to modify in to shades of purple and then painting designs, like a rainbow, or flowers or whatever we come up with.
And it is the corrugated siding,. which will make a straight line have a dimension to it.
Laurie, I Thought the same, but if you look at the door side there is room for one, I also liked the white one, Think,, painted lilac purple with one of pixs fairy's painted in the middle. On the sid between the door and back windows. just a thought now.
Loving the ideas, keep them coming LOL
^_^
Okay, I'm getting off track. Are you still wanting the gypsy caravan look? I think you can get that look fairly easily using color and a few accoutrements around windows and doors, plus if dh builds you a little porch, that would fit right in. True that the siding of the camper has horizontal lines, but I think we could either play that up, or we could focus on the details, which would make those lines less important.
I made some decorative shutters for our last house that were really easy. Simply three pieces of 1x4 cedar, cut the height of the window plus a few inches on either side. Then two pieces of the same wood holding the three together close to the top, and close to the bottom. I copied a design I saw on an old house in Tacoma. It was completely easy, but it gave a nice finished look to the house, which had cedar siding. I have plenty of wood left over from building my dh's shed. I can bring some. It's fir, but I think it's the right width. Easy to prime it and then paint. Could also be used for trim on the camper. I'm thinking they are 1x4. Also easy to use this to cut fancy trim.. I have an awesome jigsaw.
Yes Pix, I still want that I was just looking for a idea of how to color it.
Please don't get of track.
Use a red light and illuminate the statue of David outside. Everyone will get the idea Tilly. LOL
I know I am bad.
you are bad, but love ya anyway.
Tills, I'm so sorry you hurt yourself - very discouraging!! Glad you got a visit from that precious little gal, though. And the wheel couldn't be more perfect!!!
Thank you Murmur, she is a kick never heard a child scream her joy as this one, oboy headache real quick, and such a Rollie pollie.
How is Steve? And how are you holding up, dumb Q, never mind I know, I will miss you so at Heidi's, if there is anything you want, let Heidi know and I will Gladly pick it up. and take it to work with me.

I never saw the post that you hurt your neck. So sorry I know how that feels. Where was the wheel?
Willow. 7 above. one up from the baby.
I can't believe I hurt my neck by sneezing, just so dumb. If is not better in AM going to see my Chiropractor.
Hope you feel better soon, Mary. And the wheel looks great!!
Thanks, feel like a big moron, how dumb.......
Tils, you can't be a dummie for sneezing! For goodness sakes, let up on yourself child, you sneezed! Put something nice and warm on it, and get DH to give it a massage and a bit of TLC.
Then play with baby and think about wagons.
xo, all better.
I just stumbled on this.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/834858/
Went to Chrio. Today all fixed I hope, still hard to move. pince a nerve in my neck, he ask me what did you go and do know. ( I have been seeing him for 15 years) and I said Sneezed, He says thats very commom as he is laughing because he thought I hurt myself again. I have a history of over doing what I should'nt. LOL
This is a idea on the paint, needs a little modification to the shape of the trailer, but I tried to up size the pic. on the scanner and this is the results. kind of fuzzy.
But I think we can work out the kinks.
That'll work.
Thanks Willow.
I like it, with some mods. Its a can do, I think????
If nobody wants the Cornflowers, you can have them for your plant sale, I don't need any more, still have babies. I will bring them when I come out.
Tills
