Beautiful pics, Davie. Thanks for sharing them! Awesome! Evelyn's Maui Kalakoa has some similarities with Jeannie Moragne.
Dete, mine are slooooooooooooowwww too right now. As soon as we have some warm nights and decent heat during the day, they'll catch up.
AZ Grown III
Davie, those are just beautiful. One of my reds from the co-op is growing, can't wait for it to bloom.
too bad i missed the co-op. maybe, that was a good thing. LOL looking good davie!
I doubt I have anything you need/want, Davie, but it would be nice to meet you.
That looks great, Davie. I had just stuck mine in the ground a few weeks after I got them because I didn't have time to pot them up. The other day, I pulled them out of the ground and potted them up. A couple had some nice roots starting already. I orginally got them to use as grafting stock, which is why I got only whites and yellows, but I have inflo's on a couple of them so I'm going to let those flower:-)
Clare I have about 10-15 with inflos, be intresting to see what they look like. Might have one flower by tomorrow or the next day, its pink on the outside.
Dete, you want some from the trade you got some...just say the word.
"Singapore" tree out in the middle of Yuma Valley, in a week or two this thing is going to be full of flowers.
absolutely beautiful...i hope that's on the tour. LOL
hmmm...too bad my block wall and overhanging trees didn't help my plumeria. just goes to show you at some point the temp matters more than what's around the plumeria.
had a plumie up against the house, too. arghhh!!!! dete on the next movin' van to yuma. haha!
Awesome pics, Davie. I love to see the ones in the ground that are so big and beautiful like that. Thanks for posting these pics. Please take one, if you can, of that Singapore in full bloom in a few weeks.
speaking of singapore...i can't get mine to bloom consistently every year. also, how do i transplant it if it always have leaves? arghhh!!!
Mine don't seem to either yet, Dete, and sometimes, black tip interferes.
maybe i should transplant it. i would have to go to a larger container because i don't want to root prune it. i did that last year and the leaves were limp for weeks. i thought for sure i had lost it. then again, i scraped off the upper roots to add more soil. dumb!!!
That will be part of the Tour de Yuma.
What is this about not transplanting when your plants have leaves? I do it all the time, did not know that was a bad thing?
Thanks Clare!
Huh? I transplant all summer long when my plumies have leaves. I think the advice Dete is thinking of is not to transplant when you don't have leaves -- i.e., when the plant is dormant because it will sit on wet soil once it is watered in. Otherwise, I don't know what Dete is talking about.
it's okay to transplant with with or without leaves. i've done it both ways. what one shouldn't do is root prune when you have leaves. that's what i did. i root pruned the upper layer of soil and stripped away the feeder roots. i guess that was a bad idea and it wasn't even a full transplant. this is how the singapore looked for weeks after doing what i did.
Oh, I see. Ouch. That makes sense. I've never root pruned, but I may have to in the future. Yeah, I wouldn't prune the upper roots if you can help it. I would only prune the roots at the very bottom. My 'Singapores' dry out the fastest, it seems, of all my cultivars and really want the room to grow.
Your Carribean seedling looks great!
LOL, Davie! You crack me up. He's only kidding, Dete:-)
Wow! Definitely not a pink but a beauty nonetheless. That yellow is gorgeous.
hey!!! LOL
I'm glad you all get my sense of humor.
Davie
Wow! I never get tired of looking at beautiful plumie flowers. Please keep them coming.
Those seedlings look really promising. You'll have to watch those seedlings carefully to see if they really are going to be dwarf. I know Kukiat has some amazing dwarves that have produced remarkable flowers, but he is going to watch their growth over the next couple of years to be sure. I am very excited about the dwarves of the future.
Sorry about your desiccated tree. I agree that you should cut above the dead tissue and re-root the top undamaged part.
davie - you better hide lola beauty when we visit. LOL that one is stunning!
Clare that's what I plan on doing also. I just upped the pot sizes to see if they would grow any faster in bigger pots. So far they hav maintained very slow growth habits, but it is still too early to tell. I have not seen any of them flower yet...maybe this year.
Dete, already hidden, marked the stake with a code name...common something or other...LOL. Lola Beauty is now in my top 5 of what I have seen flower so far.
Good idea, Davie. Kukiat tests his dwarf trees by planting them in the ground so that they can reach their maximum size without interference from the pot. I think Luc does it this way too.
Well that not going to happen...I am moving soon, well I hope to be, so i do not want to put any more plants in the ground. I already have a few to dig up. I will put them in big enough pots to be able to tell. Right now the leaves are half the length and width as my other seedlings planted at the same time, and they are about 1/2- 3/4 the size of most of the others. Hope that's a good sign...well see.
