years ago I saw a very pretty combination of these two plants (rose campion or mullein pinks planted with lamb's ears) and I am trying to reproduce it for my garden.
I have the lychnis coronaria (a beautiful magenta flower) but I have yet to find a lamb's ear that has the large and relatively more colorful flower that I remember. I know that lamb's ear is not usually grown for it's flower, but this one was full and colorful and beautifully echoed the bright color of the blooming lychnis.
anybody know of a variety of lamb's ear that fits the description? our local nursery has 'stachys byzantina' but the proprietor described it as 'the standard flower'. Any thoughts?
stachys & lychnis combo
There are a ton of Stachys species besides the standard lamb's ears that you find everywhere--unfortunately since there are so many I have no idea which one you might have seen. But here's the list of the ones in Plant Files, hopefully you can look through them and see one that looks close to what you're remembering.
