Thomaston, CT

Magnolias have started to bloom here--I am surprised as it seems early--mine, though, is a late one, & has a lot of purple in it--I like the pink better--nice shot, WC. Yes, Laurel, I did cook at U of Miami--felt like I was breathing through a wet blanket. Very warm here 77, & warmer tomorrow--guess I'm glad I'll be babysitting in Goshen--it's always colder.

Must be nice to have a little one to wait with at the bus stop--since I taught in the same school as my son, we drove in together--a 5min. ride. I usually took the neighbor's boys as well. Pix--you must be joyful to be at 70!

All snow now gone, Celeste?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

All but a few small patches under the big Pines and on the North side of the house where it only gets morning sun.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Must feel great after this winter that never seemed to end for you guys!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks! ☺

It came with the house! it's about 20' x 20' and I had to trim it when I bought the house because it was over the driveway, the neighbors, the power lines, etc etc. Now its nicely shaped and I let the lower branches hang some to retain the shape (like a big bonsai!). I give it Fruit and deciduous tree stakes twice a year and last year it flowered 2x! ☺!

- Just one thing though... it has me raking leaves (petals) again in May!! - oh well, sometimes even raking isin't so bad as long as you have the memories of the flowers!! ☺

Temp 53°. ☺

Great photos, WC. I love magnolias and I don't clean up after them. Whatever falls is art in the garden.

Look at what happened with this fallen magnolia leaf as it must have landed on newly emerging daffodil foliage.

Impaled! I would never rake them up either. WC, you must be an OC gardener!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Well it was an absolutely beautiful top down day(on the convertible). My one thermometer is in the sun and it says it got to 135. WOW that's hot!. HEE HEE

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Better check that thermometer, Jen! Of course you meant the convertible - what other top would be down?!^_^

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Ya never know.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee. With all the plants I have to plant tomorrow and the warmer temps, I'm sure my shirt will be off.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Ya know it's just not fair that guys get to take theirs off.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I have no problem with women doing the same...

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I'm sure! Of course some you'd rather not see, beach weather is coming and there are some down at the shore that should be covered up a little more.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's for sure and that goes for men and women!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Actually 'ya see more in the supermarket than the beach!! ☺

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Lucky to all that have a magnolia, I love the blooms! Clemen

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

45 now and overcast. We had a great rain last night, after, of course, I had watered well a couple of beds I was cleaning up and planting some new kids in yesterday. I overdid it and I am a tad more sore than normal this morning. We did move 2 big lace caps and a spirea yesterday and now I need to replace them with something that will like that hot east morning sun better. I did leave one. I have to transplant seedlings today with out fail. I will leave my shirt on. Have a good one all, enjoy your gorgeous magnolias, I am beyond envious. Patti

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Hi patti: 50* here now going for 70's.People going to work have convertable tops down. Many spent last weekend getting the "summer car" ready.
Bluestone will deliver today and ferns from Hallson.
Finally something to plant.

Sunny with a few scattered clouds. No rain here at all, could have used some I think. Just at freezing now and climbing fast already. If we don't get rain next couple of days may have to water, that stinks in April. Just want nice sunny days and a shower at night once or twice a week, what's wrong with that? :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

47, sunny and clear. What a stretch we've had!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Yesterday we hit 77 with sun all day, looks like today will be a repeat. Golfing for the first time this year this morning, then in the garden the rest of the day. Yeay!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

52.6 right now. Great weather but after 8 hours in the garden yesterday I wouldn't mind some showers soon. I'm wearing down fast this spring.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Possible rain Sun and Mon.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Nap time!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Recovery time! I'll be dead after today.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

We'll miss you!!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I'll send flowers VG!

Temp 53.6°,

Neighbor just started watering his lawn for the 1st time this am. I started up my drip system last week! Spring just isin't as wet as it used to be. Time to get busy, I'll do gardening stuff later. Going to the nursery later to check out the JMs. JMs look nice in the fall, enhances the property value and makes the neighbors more jealous of me, an 'all purpose tree'! Hee hee! ☺

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Many look great in the spring as well.

Southern Dutchess Co, NY(Zone 5b)

It's 54 here on the way up to 80 glorious degrees!

I was delighted to find my local nursery had coupons in the paper this morning for 50% off a tree and also a shrub! Perfect timing since I'm preparing to replace the foundation plantings we took out last fall.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Wow! What a morning! I, too, am thinking about watering as it's been a bit drier than usual.

Good news ........

Can it get any nicer out? Hotter, maybe, but not nicer! It's 72° with a gentle breeze, and I just came in for a quick lunch break.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

78 and glorious! Back outside soon.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

It only got to 57 in Nantucket today, but that is fine with me as I work better when I am not cooked. One more day to finish up my major spring work before heading for New Orleans. I still have to transplant seedlings as I decided that the driveway was an eyesore and needed cleaning up instead today.

I have failed at getting our boat moved to a less visible spot or getting in the new posts for the deer fence as planned by May. But I hadn't thought we would be away for a week when I set my spring goals. However, I think I will get them done by June. DH seems to be on board for both projects. That is the real battle.

Everything is starting to look luscious. I will miss seeing somethings bloom, but seeing our DS will make up for it. Patti

Patti, have a wonderful trip and eat tons of great food for me. Love N'awlins.

Laurel

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Patti: I was with my friends from Nantucket, she is with Lee Realty and her husband and his family have a landscape business there, the Champeau(sp) family. Ben is the best guy.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Laurel, I will eat till I explode. Son is in the business, so he will orchestrate some great meals from a wide spectrum of places. Then we are going to Jazz Fest for 3 days with an old friend from Nantucket who has gone for more than 20 consecutive years for the whole event and when he isn't listening to music, he is eating. So he will be a pleasure to tag long with and he has made diner reservations for us at some of his favorites spots.

Ge1836, I am acquainted with David Champeau, but we have never had more than a mowing crew for years. He does lots of major gardens. I have known Jeff Lee for since the 70's. Good guy too. Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Have a great time, Patti. Wow - you were nice and cool. Too hot here today. Into the 80's.
