Yes, maltese- shitzu. that's what my friend thought the mix was.
He sure is a formidable looking little pup.
DG Names.....What's your real name??
pixie i think wee need a new thread, it is getting too long/ CLEM
Hi all! My name is Shirley & I live in a town that is about as far west in NY as you can get. I'm thrilled to have found this place and thanks to Candyce for pointing me to this forum. Over the years, it's been hard to find sources of information for our zone(s). Most of the shows on TV are in TX and other warm places where they're doing all kinds of things we can't!
I hope to do some swapping with you all. I am pulling stuff out of my mom's old perennial bed so that I can re-do it. I'm adding a ton of flower beds this year, now if the weather would just cooperate so I can get out there and till. Is it going to rain forever???
Hiya, Shirley!
I just sent you another D-Mail.
I wonder if you can make it to our Round Up (another name for plant swap and total fun) on June 28th? I'd love to meet you!!
Welcome Shirley!
Hi there, Shirley! We're happy to have you join the fun here. Tell us more about the gardens you are planning for your Mom....
Louise
Welcome, Shirley! We all look forward to comparing notes about our gardens and weather! - Lynn

Ditto here, Shirley.
I'll bet I have some seeds that I could share for now, and perhaps more seeds and plants later. Just let me know what you are looking for, and I'll see if I can help you fill your 'order', so to speak.
Hi Shirley, welcome from me. It's fabulous that you're joining us. I'm pretty new here too and I've learned a lot. These folks are serious about their gardening but pretty irreverent about everything else.
Laurel (who is north of somewhere sometimes)
Laurel, how are you doing down there today?? I hope it was an UP day amidst the rubble!
Well I partied hearty last night Louise. The dance with my DH to the Beatles, "In My Life" gave me a weepy few romantic moments. I lived in a commune when that song happened. The dipping and swooping was cool too. We're not talking about the kind of dipping that's going on up in Cleveland, GA.
We were the third oldest married couple at 37 years. Seems like yesterday when it doesn't seem like thirty seven years. Is a LOL appropriate here? We missed the actual wedding! Can you believe it? Took us 3 1/2 hours to drive 40 miles with Atlanta closing down three of five South bound lanes. Such an amazing city and such bad planning.
We need to get off my aggravation and on to positive stuff like Shirley's garden. That's what keeps me up. I'll keep ya'll posted on the rest. Thanks for the love. My sails have had little wind 'cept on DG. My friends here and in Georgia gardening have kept me going. The Georgia folks have had a number of weird weather and development planning (highway condemnations) occurences that have set back their gardens. We are also in year three of major drought watering restrictions through out the state. That means no watering in Atlanta, any day, any time. Luckily, at Maypop, we are spring fed and can be self-rationing about our water and our garden. We are supporting a fish habitat that we eat, so we must keep a balance between vegetables and fish. Tricky, but the vegetables come first.
Well, I've gone on here and thanks to all of you for all you've said, offered and done.
Laurel
Laurel, the traffic around Atlanta is horrific!!!! My mom owns a house in NE Georgia and friends of ours live in Marrietta.
Wow - you guys are terrific! Thanks so much to all for the warm welcome. I already feel like I've been here a while since I've learned so much. I'd love to set up a swap with you all. I have a lot of nifty things that I need to identify. I know (in most cases) what they are, but no idea which cultivar. I'm really excited about adding new things, although that can be upsetting, too. I hate when things mysteriously don't come back one year... that's part of the reason I'm doing a lot of things from seed. I figure if the plant is strong enough to come from seed in my dirt, it's more likely to last, so to heck with the F1s for me! Well, thanks again. I'm really glad I found you guys, especially since I only have one local gardening buddy! You're filling a deep void in my life ;)
Awwww, Shirley. How sweet of you to say so.
It doesn't take long before everyone feels like family, does it?
Laurel - glad to hear you got out for a few moves on the dance floor. Sounds like it was a nice break for you. Great to have romance after 37 years! Congrats on the good marriage!
Shirley - I would be excited too with that lovely place you have. Your plans are quite something!
Thanks, Donnie! Now if the weather would just cooperate so I could till!
Welcome Shirley!!
Harper
