Soon I'll have to be getting our car down off the cinder blocks to head back north! Yippee....our plumber called yesterday to let us know he will open up the farmhouse, and he said it was 80 degrees in NH yesterday. Whahooo....bet I've got some pretty little bulbs peeking up about now. We're going to leave here earlier than originally planned so we can take a diversion to Birmingham, Alabama to visit my DBIL who has just had some very serious complications from surgery. We'll eventually get to the farm at some point in early May.
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - Daffy Time
My best to your BIL, Louise.
I'm not forgiving you here. As a gesture of friendship and faith, we are inviting you to the annual Southern Appalachian revival sometime in Joooly. Speaking in tongues is encouraged. BYOS...bring your own snakes. If you're reform, well that translates to "bring your own shine". A few wads of fresh mozzerella will endear you to the hosts. Feel free.

Count me in! Can I stay in the Beaver's room?
We currently have a car up on jack stands (not cinder blocks). DH is replacing the brake lines.
Deb, you might might want to visit the Trash toTtreasure forum and get suggestions regarding yard art propriety, especially when elevating vehicles. I know nothing about brake lines except I think they are important.
heehee!
He replaced my radiator yesterday too, nice to have a handyman around. But, he hates to junk anything, so keeps cars and fixes them 'til they really can't go no more.
RE: Plastic buckets... The Stew Leonards near me often has stacks of them outside the store, free for the taking.
Here's an article about making self watering planters out of them (scroll down to- DIY Self-watering Container -:

Back in southe STL, we used to call those "Mary on the Half Shell".
Hi Amy: I felt the need to be discreet. You never know about the religeous, they take it pretty serious.
I have also heard them "Vergin in a bathtub"
Victor must be gardening, havn't heard from him on this thread today.
sounds like one hot Schickenlady!
i went to 12 years of Catholic school, and thus i am warped for life.
Catholic girls do learn to accessorize, though!
Too funny Amy. The Catholic girls I knew gave the best haircuts and could make you up to look twenty one if you were fourteen or forty!
hahahhaah
When you're stuck in white shirts, plaid skirts, and "maroon, gray, or white" sweaters and socks for 12 years, you gotta make the most of what's left!
At my grade school, up to 8th grade, we could not wear jewelry of any kind - plain studs ONLY for the girls with mothers that permitted pierced ears. No "makeup" which included nail polish - we used to tempt fate by wearing what back then we called "white nail polish", really just the clear frosted kind.
We also couldn't carry a purse (had to be kept in your locker) and our uniforms had no pockets. (This was inconvenient by the time girls reached , say 12 or so...)
I hate clothes with no pockets. cargo pants are a bit much though.
Very nice, Gloria!
Lovely necklace, Gloria! What a nice gift to her!
Very pretty! When is the wedding?
Beautiful! Simply beautiful!
The wedding is on the 26th of April. (So I had to hurry to get it done).
She is marrying her high school sweetheart who is a full blooded Indian.
Sioux, I think. Hence, the white buffalo. the wedding will be in North Dakota.
A boy named Sioux?
Victor, you never run out!
Gloria that necklace is beautiful!! How sweet to be marrying your HS sweetheart.....I love stories like that. My DD married her HS SH. They were 16-17 when they started going out and they are now 30 and 31 with 2 beautiful children.
I like HS SW stories - my son and his girlfriend liked each other starting in 8th grade, but didn't start dating until they were 20. 2 years later they are still dating, and get along so well. They both turn 22 this spring. We'll see how it ends up.
Gloria - the necklace is beautiful.
Victor - you are just too funny.
I never fell in love with anyone in high school. An all girls school leaves something to be desired.
I fell in love in HS but he was a Cornell student. I grew up in Ithaca NY. I was an old sixteen ,impulsive, romantic, artistic( he seemed so exotic)
Just had to be THE ONE.
I was wrong.that was 55 years ago,we divorced 10 years later. I still have the best part of him, his gene pool gave me great kids.
Same story here, Pirl - all boys HS. I fell in love with every girl who walked by though (midtown Manhattan!)
It's great to be here.
FINALLY got to the end of this thread!!!!
Speaking of privacy.... we used to have a fine and private yard. I could garden in my bra (and did) in the summer. Wwell, this spring, when we opened the patio door to the back yard, there was an ENORMOUS HOLE in the back leafy wall. I guess one of the trees belonged to our neighbor, and he cut it down. Now he can see us, and we can see him and his wife and their children doing whatever it is that popular children do - having parties, playing volleyball, whatever. I never felt so urban before this guy cut down this tree.
xx, Carrie
