Granny, the cat food was to the left and behind Straypuss, but the Blackbird was being wary!
Lol, Bum is beautiful, we'll get ourselves thrown off here. I have a final pic of a pair of House Sparrows which I dare NOT post here! It's a good one though!
I spotted a bird flit behind the bushes where I was stood at the back fence, had to lean over the fence and around the bush to see it. A female Sparrow was sat on the fence down the side, as I took a pic HE flew in!
Daily Pics Vol. #92
GG....Great idea, I'll have to think about it. Maybe I should apply for a patent.
Oh, Sybil - I will never complain about NE weather again!
Looks like everybody else has been having a lot of fun today!
Is this just the saddest looking Robin ever?!
The evening before last, a pair of Carolina Wrens and two of their youngsters were in my Norfolk Pine right by the window. The little ones were so cute but just as elusive as their parents! I'm afraid that I scared the dickins out of them with my camera without getting a single shot. I'm resolved to leave them alone from now on!
Awww. It does look quite forlorn. :(
It looks young - it's beak is too big for its head.
Sybil - hopefully Resin will come along and correct me if I'm wrong but I think # 2 & # 3 are Song Sparrows and #1 looks more like a Fox Sparrow with the grey on it's head but could be a Song Sparrow too...
Oh- I wondered if the one with the shorter tail (the first one) might be a Fox Sparrow - only thought of that because of the color - rich rusty red.
I was thinking that my robin was a depressed teenager. Poor guy.
I marvel at y'all's sparrow identification abilities! I always think they are house sparrows. I think this one actually is a house sparrow. He and his partner have been helping me by removing the dead husks?(bark?) off of these banana trees. They make quite a racket doing it, but I'm glad that they are finally remodeling their nest.
hopefully Resin will come along and correct me if I'm wrong
No I won't, you're right ;-)
Resin
I think this one actually is a house sparrow
Yep!
Resin
Thanks Resin!
I can't believe all the snow y'all have. We haven't even had rain. I had the sprinkler going this morning and was able to see a Northern Parula again. Nothing but blurry pictures, but I enjoyed seeing him bathing in the mist on the cardamom leaves.
These White-winged doves think my neighbor's garage roof is the French Riviera.
LOL, thats funny!
Thanks for confirming my id's Resin, I'm getting better, thanks to you all :-)
I just saw this female something. When I saw the coloration on the back, I thought it was another goldfinch, but it's much bigger. I measured the leaves on the water oak at 3+ inches (or 7 cm), so the bird seems to be about 8 inches. Is this some type of female oriole? Sorry the picture is not better. I have another one that I'll post too.
hee hee rose. NICE!
Dellrose, wow! I'm so jealous that your accidental shot is so much better than my on purpose ones! Beautiful! Love the White Breasted Nuthatch too. What a beautiful bird!
Great job Rose!
Gee thanks...when I saw it on my computer I felt like our 2nd Cousin Dave! LOL!
It is so windy here the shingles are flying off the roof! DH is on the phone ordering a new one!
Well rose, now Dave is your mentor!! You are a willing apprentice, young grasshopper.
Really windy here too.
LOL!!
LOL! New roof=$4,500.00!! But the birds will love it since they use it too and this is a bird forum!
Is this some type of female oriole?
Yep, female oriole. Best fit is Orchard Oriole, but I can't rule out Baltimore Oriole.
Resin
Congrats Elphaba on the Oriole...send her this way if you get a chance and have her bring a Hummer with her!
Congratulations Elphaba!! She's beautiful! Very nice pic!
Whoo hoo! Thanks y'all. I hardly ever see orioles! Dellrose, don't worry. She's headed your way already darn it. Come to think of it, I haven't seen my hummer all day either!
Yep, Song Sparrow
