It seemed that every island had a pair of Geese.

Ugh Oh, she looks a bit upset w/ you. :-)

Florence, MS(Zone 8b)

Thank you Pelle. It was fun and it only took a couple of hours. The wind was picking up and the clouds were getting heavy so we called it a day by 9am. We also got some good gator pics. Always remember when stepping from the boat to a log for that better shot of a bird; the log might move.

Pelle, I think the goose was more upset with some Black Vultures that were using the one tree on the island for a roost.

I've never seen a Purple Gallinule before, amazing bird! Nice waders too, lol.

I've had a little Dunnock around lately, it was hopping along the neighbour's fence like a Wren.

Another poor shot out the window of a Gold Finch, it was on the peanuts yesterday.

I got a 'resonable' pic of the Great Spotted Woodpecker on the peanuts.

Flying off too! It's funny to watch, it shoots out to one side, then goes like a dart in the opposite direction. Very fast!

It came back!

Very nice woodpecker shot! (It came back)

Thanks pelle, it's not always good through the window with or without sun, I went outside to try to get a better one but they are wary.

I got some of a Blue Tit, it got a big piece of nut and didn't know how it was going to eat it, I knew it would fly away with it!

It's head was going in all directions...

Beautiful birds everyone. That Great Spotted Woodpecker is especially nice. I forgot one earlier....a couple of Mourning Doves.

Wow, Frank & Wallaby you all been busy. Great pics!

Mrs. Ed, by suet ball I suspect you are referring to the thing hanging in the middle of the pole, that is wool nesting material for WBU! LOL

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

What wonderful pictures everyone. Beautiful birds here, many species that I have never before seen.

Gosh, when you miss a few days on the Forum, you really get behind.

Here are a two Brownheaded Cowbirds from yesterday.

My little Goldfinches are getting their color! Perhaps Spring does lurk around some distant corner!

haha Nanny!! I thought maybe it was a big thing of suet fat like Sybil uses.

Oh well, still looks like a chicken!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Ho LA LA!!! what beautiful birds you have.
Another arrival today, the goldfinch are here. Couldn't take a picture quick enough. It got scared away, but it will be back.
This is my weather channel, bad weather on the way.

Very nice pic GP! Glad he's still with you!

Not that it matters but are you ever seeing more than 1 at a time?

Melbourne, FL

Last year I saw two at one time, but so far this year only one.

Batavia, OH(Zone 6a)

Great pics everyone! I see so many new birds here. Frank, careful in that swamp!

Btw, if you're in the Midwest, check the weather. Lots of tornado watches... I let the feeders go dry as they needed to be cleaned, birds going crazy now that they're back up. Don't know if that's bad weather coming or just plain hungry birds.

And I'm sick of the bleach in the garbage can routine. Anyone have a good source for long-handled bottle brushes that work on finch feeders? Ugh.

Central, KY(Zone 6b)

Coo13549 - I bought a long handled brush at Lowes in the bird feeder section, it's got a flexible metal handle. I've got some feeders that I really hate to clean, the only way to get them really clean is taking them apart, and there are lots of pieces. Now when I buy new feeders the first thing I look at is how hard it will be to clean.

Beautiful pics everyone!!

Frank, that Purple Gallinules is really beautiful, I've never seen anything like it.

Wallaby, woodpeckers are my favorite birds and I want one of those Great Spotted Woodpeckers, think you could send me one, LOL (just kidding) but it's so cool!

Gardenpom, when are you FL folks going to send my Indigo Buntings back, LOL, I sure do miss those little beauties! Too bad the Painted Buntings don't come here too, they sure are pretty!

I'm so excited, I'm getting a new camera and the tracking message I just got said it'll be here tomorrow! I got the Olympus SP 570UZ, with a 20x optical zoom, I sure hope I'm not disappointed. My Kodak has got so much dust behind the lens that I'm really starting to see spots on my pics and it's sooo heavy, with the telephoto lens on it. Wish I could have gone to a DSLR but we just bought a new tractor so that wasn't an option right now :-(

Klamath River, CA

This Dark-eyed Junco almost landed on my foot. They are getting very used to me.

Let's try it again. YOU'RE A JUNCO, not a Goldfinch so get off my sock.

Thumbnail by adelbertcat
Central, KY(Zone 6b)

That's so funny adel :-) I see my Junco on the regular feeders occasionally but never on a thistle sock!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Congrats Sadie! 20X sounds wonderful! I know that it's predecessor was a recommended camera on dpreview.com. I'm sure that it will do everything you want it to do and more!

Just remember that practice, practice, practice is the key!!
