We have just moved into a lovely (but quite small) log cabin with two large (~40') Colorado Blue Spruces flanking both sides of the front of the house. Nothing had been landscaped before and we'd like to plant some ground cover/flowers beneath the Spruces. Any recommendations for flowering ground cover in what I'm assuming will be quite acidic soil? We've cleaned up all the pine needles and raised up the bottom branches to about 12', so it will get part sun. This is our first foray into home gardening, so any advice would be appreciated.
