oooh Gail ... I'll take that bathroom any day, even without plants! Both of our bathrooms are so tiny!
I used to have C. Kitaguni too but it's one that died.
Oh ... I looked up Nakako and WOW, that is Gorgeous with those yellow flowers!!
What's Blooming in April II
Is there not one room in your house that isn't beautiful? That wall color is wonderful! And I think I've mentioned before how much I like that tabletop that you posted a pic of a plant sitting on earlier-
I don't have but one talent and that is decorating friend's homes. About 10 years ago I called my adult kids when I lived in New Braunfels and asked them to rent a UHaul truck to take my furniture. They were told to leave me enough furniture for a 2 bedroom apartment and to take the rest.
I knew I would spend the rest of my life without high ceilings, etc. so they took most of the big wood furniture. Now it is so much fun getting to live with lots of gro lights and not so much furniture. At my age, that is the last thing on my list of priorities. ...........now I like a lot of color!
Give me another couple of years and I may have to sleep in my office on a cot (LOL)
(if I keep adding gro light stands at this rate)
Gail..your dreamtime chirita has to be the hugest thing I have ever seen.Looking over my tiny slow growing crew..lol..I never realized they grew that big.Ooo that stand of plants is awesome! Oh my..I wish I had a bathroom like yours! So neat with all those plants too!
Susan love your itty bitty baby chirita..its just too cute..make sure you post a pic of your Roulette Cherry as soon as it opens.I have been wanting that one for quite awhile and really want to see if it looks as spectacular as I hear..bet it will : )
Gail, the bathroom and plants are great. Do the plants get enough light? So nice.
Wow, I had to finally go look up that Streptocarpus Roulette Cherry that y'all have talked about! What a Pretty Strep: http://www.dibleys.com/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Page_3___New_Streptocarpus_Varieties_7.html
Oh..Lin...What a Beauty! oooo how I wish Dibleys shipped to America....actually..lol... maybe I should count myseld lucky they don't..I can only imagine what a shopping bender I could go on there!!
WOW no wonder everyone's wanting that Roulette Cherry! Spectacular! Thanks for the link Lin- and I'm with cedar- probably a good thing they don't ship to the states! And if they do - don't tell us!
I just moved the chiritas tonight........let you know if it is enough light.
Yes, that strep is to 'die for'..........jealous I am........
I got two packages of seeds from Thompson and Morgan of Dibley's hybrid seed and not one has germinated. Keep you informed. I am extremely grateful they don't have a site! (LOL)
I had it shipped to me.. I got it when I went to visit Kim in January. I got it off of ebay...
Susan
I get you two got in trouble on ebay!! I can't even go there and drool at those prices.
Gail,
Love what you did in your bathroom. Very pretty and beautiful plants.
Laura
Thanks.......instead of just calling it purple and people gag, I call it aborigine (does that color sound better) (LOL)
I have missed seeing you around or is it me not noticing that you have been posting!
Thanks Gail. I have been here and there. I watch many threads and post on few, just try to keep up on everyone and try not to go to too many "new" plant sites. Ha. My little ones keep me so busy (9 and almost 11) and although my Dad is doing alot better this year (fingers crossed), me and my two sisters still keep checking on him. He's 81 and has been alone since '84 when mom passed away, but he is doing great for that age. Still drives and shops and gets around great, just slower. At 52, if I don't take my iron pill everyday, I get slower too. :)
Thanks for your beautiful pics. I enjoy all of them. Your patio is great. I'll keep watching and learning here. Have a great night.
Laura
I am so happy your dad is still up and around. I am a lot older than you but I take Foltx which is a prescription for Folic Acid, Vitamins B6 and B12. They changed my life as far as energy goes. The doctor told me that I would have to take bottles of these a day to get what i get in one pill a day with this prescription.
My mom passed away 8 years before my dad did and he had to create a new life but he had fun doing it. He moved in a retirement community and his mind was sharp as a tack until he passed away. He ate lunch and dinner with 5 females every day and he loved it!
Foltz...sounds good. Might ask my doc about it. Hummmm...
Sounds like my dad. He has stayed single and really only dated one lady once for about 6 months. My sisters and I took him to a luncheon last weekend at Danville Gardens, a nursery east of us a few miles, and out of 20 tables full of women, he was the only man. He goes there often during the year and they all know and love him there, so that was alot of fun and he always gets "special" attention when he's there from the staff (of mostly women). It was good for him.
Thanks for caring. Will chat with you later.
Laura
B12 is very important for me. I took injections for years, now I take great supplements and under the tongue b12 mostly. Fewer infections.
Hi Ladies...Just read to catch up...sometimes I don't have time to read the whole thread, but I like to post and share plant pics so....

I think she is SO beautiful and cherish her so much Nancy. Thank you SO MUCH!!!
This is my only "adult" plant, the rest I am growing from leaf but I am LOVING Chirita SO much and truly love my friend for sharing her with me :)
XO
Kim
This plant was one I got for my birthday last year from Lyndon Lyon. It was a big splurge for me to be able to order from a nursery and it took me a long time to decide what I was going to get *lol* but I am SO happy that I chose this little guy. Blooms all the time. Not alot of blooms at any given time but at least one or two all the time. The blooms are small compared to the size of the plant but they are so quaint. I think I'm going to put it in a hanger as it seems that the best way to view the flowers is from underneath. I find it easy to care for and it grows very quickly.
X-codonanthus Vista
Here are the 2 plants (from the babies) that I have decided to keep and raise as my very own :)
I potted them in their 2 inch pots this weekend and am SO excited that I grew them from leaf.
I wouldn't have known how to do all this or how to fix the many mistakes I have made if it wasn't for all my friends here teaching me, encouraging me and giving me tips. I truly appreciate you all SO MUCH!
Here is my Hisako and Dreamtime
I don't know what's going on but this site is very slow today ... maybe it has something to do with being Monday. It is taking forever to load a page, some pic's are showing up, some not and when I click on one to enlarge all I get is a big white box with a little blue box with a question mark! So, I am heading out to run a couple of errands and will try again later.
Sure do want to see your pic's Kim ... I know you are doing a wonderful job. I bet that x codananthus is a beauty like all your other plants!
Hope everyone has a happy, sunshiny day. ^_^
We've had a lot of rain in Florida the past two weeks ... much needed and appreciated but it's nice to see the sun peeking out until the afternoon storms arrive again!
Lin..Slow is right ..thought maybe it was just my computer..makes me feel a little better..Glad to hear you have been getting some much needed rain.I bet the foliage down your way is awesome with the needed moisture.: )
Kim!!!! Its easy to see kazu really loves her new mommy! She is gorgeous!Thats one I could never get to bloom for me..looks like all she wanted was someone to really love her! Great job my friend : ) Wow that visa is a gorgeous plant! ooo look at those adorable baby Hisako and Dreamtime.I can't get over how *perfect* those little leaves are..look like baby showplants! psst..if you have an extra baby dreamtime could you put my name on it? and to think I swore I was never going to want another chirita..lol..I think I can come up with a few things for a trade a little later on : ))
You wish is my command Nancy.........there's is nothing I enjoy more than sharing my babies with my friends here :) I get as much enjoyment out of packing a box as I do growing my plants :) They need to get a little bigger so it will be a while but your name will follow the cups as she grows :)
I just LOVE Kazu. I took a little "sucker" off her and I'm going to try to root a chirita sucker for the first time. I am SO loving this!

Kim
Hi,
This is the last time I am going to try to post this as I have tryed at least 4 times and I can't get it to post.
Kim I love your birthday present... It is just beautiful... I hope in the furture if it has any babies you would keep me in mind.
This is the only one of these I have and it bloomed today for me...it is either a Green God or a Green Goddness... I hope to get a few more of these in the future
Hug,Susan
The picture is there! Very pretty!!! Great bloom!
Susan: That looks to be Episcia Green Goddess ... lovely plant!
Hiya Susan :)
I will root 3 cuttings of Vista for you when I get home. They don't take that long to root :)
They won't be huge cuttings but once rooted, they really take off!
Thank YOU
Kim
Kim,
There is no hurry, just when they put off one is ok... so far mostly what I have seem to be purple and I am getting tired of purple..LOLOLOL The one above was tiny when I got it and now look at her... She had I think it is called a Stolen? and I took it off and planted that also in the pot and now there are what seems to be 3 plants... I don't know all the ins and outs yet... I am trying to keep it all right in my head... I have a very short term memory.. I am going out now to put on the Streps that they are streps and what are chiritas... LOL I had them back wards...LOLOLO
Thanks and Hugs,
Susan
Well, the title of this thread is "What's Blooming In April" and I just have to say, I'm a bloomin right now! The mail just came and I had the sweetest letter from Kim on the prettiest stationery (butterflies, birdhouses and a rabbit)! And, she included a little packet of seeds from the harvest of her first strep cross: Bristol's Party Boy x Spacedust!
Kim, I am so excited about trying these seeds. I had gotten seeds from SnowRose late last summer and they did germinate and sprout but then all died. Well, I THOUGHT they all died. I may have been mistaken as I found a plastic container sealed in a zip lok bag, on the back of a shelf of a plant stand a couple of days ago. It is labeled at one end of the container "mixed gessie seeds from gessie society and the other end labeled strep seeds from SnowRose. I just had to go back to my trade tracker and see what the name is on them and it's Strep Trumpeter Swan. I don't know if any of these seedlings are those streps but there are definitely a few sprouts in that container. I will take a photo to post here in a few minutes.
Kim, Thank you so much for sharing your seeds! I will do my best to get them to germinate and grow! I am so excited about trying seeds again! You are such a sweetie to share offspring from your very first strep cross. I just can't imagine the time and patience it takes to do something like that. I am one of little patience. LOL.
Well, I think I will go "play in the dirt" for awhile! ^_^ Thanks again Miss Kim!
Do all flowers give seeds? I mean after they bloom.
Hugs,
Susan ^_^
Lin...the same mailman must have come straight from your house to mine...LOL..Kim!!!... Thank you sooo much...Such a lovely thoughtful card and I can't even describe how excited I am to get these planted. How exciting your 1st attempt at hybridizing.ooooo I can't wait to see these seeds sprout into babies.I can only imagine how amazing they will look! Partyboy and Spacedust are so beautiful by themselves..glad you gave them a little nudge to get hitched : ) Maybe this will give me the courage to try a little match making on my own! ((Hugs))
Lin.. I can't wait to see a pic of that sowing of seeds you had forgotten about and assumed were dead...LOL..I have done that only when I find mine they really are just dead : o
Here's the container. Now, don't laugh at me ladies ... this is a mess. It would be wonderful if I could get "whatever" these things are to survive and grow up. I need HELP, what do I do with them now? Should I just let them be and see what happens, separate them to their own teensy pots, or what? To me the one in the far back towards the left looks like it could be an episcia and maybe the ones on the right middle area could be strep's?? I really have no clue and am amazed that they have survived. I can't remember when I sowed them but it was probably @ sometime in October or November. You'd think they would be dead by now, or bigger
Lin..I am just tickled silly for you! Look at all those beautiful babies! I recognize the ones on the far right as streps, the ones to the middle and left..maybe sinnigias or kohlerias?..my id ability is still far from correct ..actually mostly wrong..most of the time,,lol I am sure someone with some real knowlegde will be along shortly and be able to tell you exactly what youi have.Whatever they are..Good Job!!! So let me get this straight...I should just sow some seeds and put them on a shelf out of sight and ignore them for 5 or 6 months..and I will get those great results?? IAfter seeing your success I am going to try it..hee hee,,maybe thats exactly what I need to do instead of hoving over them daily,,I think maybe I scare them into not sprouting for fear I will hug them to death if I actually see one sprout....You are amazing Lin : )
Ladies, you are all so much fun.
I had 8 packages of Bristol's Party Box X Spacedust and I kept 1 package. The rest were "scattered" in the garden and I am hoping that we can all grow these together and share the experience. I sure hope one of us gets the "diamond" *lol*
Lin, your babies are BEAUTIFUL! I agree Nance, I think the ones on the right are streps and the ones on the left are Sinningia Species.
Lin....please wait for REAL expertise advice.......BUT.......if they were my babies, they would be going into the own individual 1 oz. pots with perlite on the bottom of the cup and a light mix on the top. I have a BAD habit of trying to plant the TINIEST seedlings into their own pots WAAAAY early but yours look big enough.....especially since you planted them in October :)
GREAT growing!
XO
Kim
