Great pics everyone!

Thats a great idea for a Halloween thread! Someone remember that okay? :-)

There are 2 theorys about the Hummingbird feeders. One is put feeders on each side of the house so your most aggressive one can't gaurd them all OR put them all together in a row. Its just whatever works for you.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

In september I did put one out of sight so that some others could have a sip. It was funny to watch the guardian think he was all tough watching the two in one area, but I could see the third around the corner and KNEW we'd pulled one over on him. hee hee. I sure wish I could get that kind of activity all season long.

Our most agressive one just chased everyone around & around the house! I almost got nailed more than once! So I am going to try a cluster and see that helps.

Love all of the pictures. I envy you folks with the Bluebirds and the Hummers.

Elphaba, the coloring on the female cardinals is not the same for all of them. Some have this brighter coloration, and some have the coloring I am used to seeing on them. Perhaps young vs. old? Don't know.

Yes Wallaby, he is bright.

Here is a White Throated Sparrow (Resin ID'd it for me) that visited my feeder this week.

A Blue Jay enjoying some of the thicket my Amish neighbor and I have let go for the birds and animals. I didn't crop this photo so you could see what some might consider a mess, but the feathered friends and wildlife love it.

I see no mess! Just natural plant growth!

Mess is human-created detritus.

What a beautiful burst of blue in the thicket!

Klamath River, CA

I agree with Resin on the no mess.

I have lots of that type of thing just outside my yard and the birds love it!

Thanks folks. I have a lot of this thicket on my lot, plus a brush pile I have been creating for years. I invite neighbors who trim out their trees to deposit their trimmings there!

Yes, Pelle, that spot of blue caught my attention immediately.

Here is one of my very favorite little birds. And, I have a lot of them around here. Ya gotta love those great big eyes!

Love the Quails and the Waxwings!

Great seeing Bluebirds since I never see them here at all, and the Hummingbirds! I know they've been sighted here but I have yet to have one at the feeders.

Debin, The Mockingbirds are such talented singers!

Deb, that mockingbird pic is FANTASTIC!
