DAILY PICS VOLUMN 88

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Beautiful pic of the Jay gardenpom! Isn't it interesting finding out birds habits while we take their pics!

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

It's just turned bright with the cold, lol.

Great pic of the Wood Storks GP!

We have 3-4 more days of rain coming so no pics from me for a while unless there from the last few days.

Only rain pelle? We are expecting snow from Saturday to Monday! Going down to 6C (43F), typical April weather!

Orchard Park, NY

. . . . .and we had a gorgeous spring, yes spring, day - 58ish!!! And the birds were out. As I was walking out of my house for a 7:00 p.m. meeting, I noticed a few restless crows in the tree tops. And I spied a big bird way up in the spruces. Difficult to make it out. I thought it must be a red tailed hawk. You can see two crow "guards" down below.

Sorry. He is in the deciduous trees. He flew into the spruces. So then I tried to get a little closer to see what was going on. That's when I noticed more of his kind in the spruces. See if you can find them like decorations on the tips of the branches.

Here's a little closer shot. When a couple flew to another tree I realized they are a flock of turkey vultures just arrived in town. I'd forgotten they migrate this time of year. One year I saw 75+ hovering over my yard at dusk. They roost for the night before moving on.

And this shot shows the left side of the spruce, too, with more big birds perched on the branches. It was really quite a sight to be hold.

p.s. - I arrived at my meeting at 7:25.

Adel - those little feather headdresses the quails sport are too funny! Love your captions. They make me smile.

I love your HOSP shots wallaby! I kinda know how she feels...

Pelle, love that shot of the chickadee. I would love to get one that clear. They are a tough one to photograph well.

Cute adel!

I love to watch the TV's soaring evryday I go out and watch them! I call it ballet in the sky.

Marlton, NJ

LOL adel! Your too much!

I see them OP; that must be quite a site!

Marlton, NJ

Thanks nanny; I delete 95% of my Chickadee shots. Their tough ones!

I could spend hours & hours looking at these different views of birds....what a wonderful world we have...Thanks for sharing....Deb

I spy 8 Cedar Waxwings in the Mulberry Tree (or at least parts of 8!) They were so far away and high up in the tree that I couldn't even tell what I was I was taking a picture of!

Nice pics Elpaba! Their such cool birds!

Deb, your comment about my B&W Warbler shot on the other thread made me feel so much better! I took about six shots before she disappeared. There was only one in focus, and she managed to spin completely around and tuck her head behind a leaf in between the time that I pressed the button and the camera took the shot! Then I thought, wouldn't it be fun if we all posted our headless bird shots for Halloween!

I have an excellent butt shot today. I can't think of what holiday calls for butt shots. Any ideas?

Here's a goldfinch. I'm not cropping it b/c I like how she (she?) looks -- so tiny against the big tree.

Elphalba, I have a Kodak point and shoot too and it has a couple of continuous mode settings. I'm pretty sure your Z740 has similar options. I've had some success using this. One click takes maybe 3 pictures. Something to consider…

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

Great pictures folks. Love that butter butt.

Here is a picture from earlier this week. We are having the same weather as Pelle is. Rain, rain, rain.

This Red Bellied Woodpecker was busy on his tree.

"Well, why not knock me out of the bush, while you're at it!"

When Mr. Cardinal landed, he caused Mrs. to lose her footing. You can see she is still bobbing up and down from his landing, and does not look pleased!

Granny, your pictures of female cardinals are so interesting. They're coloring is really different than the coloring of my females who have an orange coloring instead of the gray.

Nanny, I think a headless owl would be perfect for Halloween! We could also do exorcist birds that can spin their head around like this Red-bellied woodpecker! It's not as good a shot as yours Granny but I love the pose!

Mrs. Ed, I think my camera has that option too, but I can't figure out how to use it! I've had this camera for a couple of years and I just discovered many of its features. I'm so bad. I never read manuals. When my brother and I were kids, we'd take the rules of a board game to my mom to read and then she'd explain it. One day, she realized that there was no reason why we couldn't read the rules ourselves. From that day forward, my brother and I made up the rules for new board games. We were so lazy!

As per Pelle's suggestion I put a feeder in the back of the house yesterday and this morning this female Rufous was able to drink with out being bothered by the frazzled one.

YAY Adel!!

Elph… I hear ya!! I'm sending you Dmail!

Cool, adel!

Bluebird in the frontyard yesterday. I not sure if it is a female or a first year male. It was alone which is unusual.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Lol nanny, sshhh, I won't tell a soul!

OP. seeing all those Turkey Vultures sure must be a sight!

GG, your Woodpecker has brilliant red colour on it's head, should be called the redheaded WP, lol.

Great pose on your WP Elphaba!

That's great aldebert, a happy Rufous!

No new pics today, it's come dull and the cold is coming in. I got this yesterday of a male House Sparrow in the roadside hedge, I left it uncropped, I though it showed up well on a grey day.

I think the frazzled one found the feeder in back, but he doesn't seem to be as aggressive when he's in the back. (could be it isn't the frazzled one). that's not red dye, it's the color of the feeder

Nanny, maybe it's mate is on a nest laying an egg!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Who was it that on one of these threads said their key was to put out tons of feeders then the aggressors could not possibly fend off everyone. He had like a dozen of them on a line!!!

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Nice tail feathers adel!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I don't know but the Bluebird sure posed pretty for me!
