Oh!
The vision!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Who has the calender full of obscure dates????? Wear Tweed Day? Strike out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig Day? Hunh? x, Carrie

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Who comes up with this stuff? Is there a room some place with a bunch of bald headed old men smoking cigars making up silly days to put on the calendar? I like it don't get me wrong, it is a good hoot but does some one do this for a living?

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Happy "another-birthday" Day Harper. On April 4th in 1581 Frances Drake finished circumnavigating the world which proved the earth is not flat. Unless you read "The World Is Flat" by Thomas L. Friedman. In 1915 Muddy Waters was born and, more, sadly MLK was assassinated on this day in 1968 in TN. It is also Vitamin C Day which was first introduced in 1932 and it is World Pet Rat Day. For those in doubt. http://www.worldratday.com/index2.html And it is my nieces birthday, Happy Birthday dear April in Canada. Patti

Happy birthday, dear Harper.
Happy birthday, dear April.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I thought Magellan did it earlier??

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Yes, he did. He brought me plants. Such a sweetie.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

My former boss, who struggled with English, kept saying 'circumcised' instead of 'circumvent' at a meeting!! Was pretty funny.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Could easily disrupt your chain of thought and your concentration, I'd guess.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We never had either of those.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

You really are a funny guy.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee - thanks.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Happy birthday April! Rest in peace MLKJr.

Victor, your poor boss! How embarrassing!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - I second that sentiment, Harper. Don't waste any sympathy on my boss, though. He turned out to be a corrupt crook. We had to blow the whistle on him. At least it made the final year a bit more bearable without him.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Oh, well then, Ha ha ha ha!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, we would have gladly volunteered to perform it on him! Along with castration. Maybe even a date with Lorena!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Aaaaaaah!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Harper is having another Birthday today. Congratulations. Also on April 5, 1974 the World Trade Center opened in New York City and in 1916 Gregory Peck was born In Calif. and, on a rather gruesome note, in 1531 Richard Roose was boiled to death for trying to poison an archbishop. What would they have done if he had succeeded? And today is Alien Contact Day so everyone go outside and wave. Patti

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Death by a very large charcoal grill?

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Ewww ouch! People back then were very intense. Hello to all the little green or grey men and ladies out there.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Hey, everyone wave at Victor. Patti

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

I think it's too cloudy at my house for them to see me!

Carrie, you said, "Who has the calender full of obscure dates????? Wear Tweed Day? Strike out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig Day? Hunh? x, Carrie"

Well . . . Babe Ruth Day is April 27th!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Ha ha ha! Hi Victor! Can ya see me waving?

Patti, I don't really celebrate my birthday everyday. I just consider this thread like the scattelogical one, kinda crazy and just another opportunity to yak away. There's nothing special about me.

However, today does carry significance for me. It's my 5th wedding anniversary. It's been a most strange marriage, but we're friends too, so we're celebrating today.

Harper

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Hurray for Harper and Stephen! Congratulations and glad to hear you're celebrating the day.

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Happy Anniversary Harper!

Aw, thanks. It's just a one day at a time thing here, but keeping a bright outlook more lately.

Harper

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Congrats to you and Stephen Harper. Stay friends and it makes everything go a lot easier, even the rough patches. Just remember the first twenty years are hardest, after that its really a cinch. Best wishes to you. :)

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Ugh! The first five years have been hard. Do I really have to wait 15 more years?

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

So should we change it to a "Very Happy Unbirthday" to you thread? Congrats on the what ever you are celebrating. I can't ever remember the date DH and I got married but I think we are going to hit 30 years in Oct. I love to hunt for strange factoids, so I love this thread. And it can go on endlessly. Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

So whatever harper is celebrating is a strange factoid! Congrats on 30, Patti! We'll be 17 in June, if we don't kill each other before that.^_^

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Happy Anniversay, Harper :-)

Everyone can wave at me, 'cause I really am an alien :-)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Most academics are!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Maybe Harper is a Factoid and you and Seandor are Aliens and I am an Illusion and David is Victor and Pirl is a BBQ Pit Meister and Carrie Is the Conductor and ngam, Donniebrook and the rest are the Choir for an Imaginary Birthday Party.

Oh and on this day in 1614 Pocahontas married John Rolfe in Virginia. So we can celebrate their anniversary too. Patti

edited to add the other Alien

WooHoo! I think you've got it!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

HaHa that's what it is, I was kinda wondering exactly. Next June will be 40 years for me and my very understanding DH. A lot of ups and downs but always we are friends and always we are a united front. It is the only way to get from there to here. We just have one rule, if there is a disagreement and no compromise can be reached who ever it means more to wins. It comes out very even over the years and after all you want your best friend to be happy right. It is just like the garden really, if you don't take care of it and work at it a little every day the weeds will take over. I don't think you really have o wait another 15 years but it does at some point become less struggle and more normal, if there is such a thing. Enjoy your special day. :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good rule, ngam. One of ours is that only one of us is allowed to be really angry at one time.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

That's great advice ngam. Thank you.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I love ngam's idea.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, but some would then argue over whom it means more to!!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Happy wife, happy life.
