All blooms lookin' lovely-the blue star is sooo pretty, but the ten ten is still the super out-in-front fave for me. I am going to start my 5 mutants tomorrow and hope I get at least one out of the group.

thank you all too. I kept taking pictures of this one to get
what it's really like, but I think it would be easier to paint it.

Soulja: glad to see I'm not the only one who's gotten "Blue Squares" before.

Mine was the last bloom at the very end of a vine, at the end of the season last year. All other blooms on that vine (that I saw) were regular Blue Star flowers with the usual five ribs.

These actually came out of a packet marked "Flying Saucers". It was my third attempt at Saucers, from three different packs, all from different sources. I've begun to call my attempts to grow them "Project Blue Book," because so far, other than a few unsubstantiated photographs, I have seen no concrete evidence that Flying Saucers actually exist.

fortunately, a friend of mine took pity on me, and sent me some seeds that she guarantees came from her own Flying Saucer vines, so maybe I'll have better luck this year...

that is a great picture seamus. Mine today had 5 points but 2 are so close together it's still square. Not like this perfect star. For my friend Kath

Dang girlfriend-those are some pretty plants you got going on! Thanks for the ten-ten pic, I'm definitely still in love!
Are you paiting/printing/drawing any of those MG's that are living in your studio? And when will they go outside there?

Louisville, KY

No art work on these yet. I usually only work figuratively, but this feels like art to me. I would think you would get into crosses when you get some blooms Kath. I'm gonna try some myself. I think that's Godly art work don't you? I mean just look at Becky's Atomic Love Child....

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Shawna - Great photos! Beautiful blooms! Ya got it going on in your room with a window!!! I love the purple/blue blizzard looking bloom in post# 4791865.

Great shot of the vine on the computer screen with the real vine behind it! LOL!

Seamus - Love your square blooms! :-) Unbelievable that you have yet to get a true flying saucer cultivar from all the seeds that were marked as such!

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

I get that Shawna, because despite my love of flowers I rarely draw them and tend to work figuratively most of the time. It must be on your mind having them right there. Definitely a "higher" art form when you are dealing with crossing-I can't wait. Crossing the ten-ten with some others would be REALLY cool. It has such a nice shape and I love those speckles. I hear Radiohead music every time I think about Becky's Atomic Love Child.

My bowl MGs this morning. I know that some of them are Kawanii Mix, but not sure about all of them as the flowers are quite large on some of them as you can see. All are mounding MGs, not vining.

Another bloom from my cross. It's still got the light blue in the bloom color.

WOW! I love those mounding mgs Becky and YAY the blue is still there on the Love Child! And the white edge looks like it's there to stay too as well as the semi blizzard thing. And the texture is really amazingly silky. Nice shot. Nice flower. Where's my paintbrush? I wanna make one!

Pretty blooms Becky.

One from this morning....the sun was shining through it.

Isn't it weird that eBay did away with the morning glory seed section? I went to relist some items and had to change it to being listed in the annual seeds area.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I didn't know they changed . . . That may explain some things, Joseph.

Thanks Shawna and Jackie! I really do like the mounding MGs! It's nice to be able to grow them in a pot. I am finding that the MGs that are growing in partial shade are doing so much better than the full sun ones. No surprise there, huh?! I was so worried that the partial shade wouldn't work, but with the intense, hot sun here, I think it is something I need to consider for many of my plants. Either that or get parasols and stick around my yard. LOL!

I have about 12 of the 20 MG seeds I planted sprouting. I am really interested to see some of these because they are crosses from Antoinette! Some of them sound really, really interesting. Hopefully in about a month I'll start seeing some blooms. :-) I'm also curious to see how they like growing on the picket fence. This is all new and trial and error. Such fun! I know she has just about finished her new garden and large patio area! I love it!

And Shawna - I can't wait to see all the vines growing in your amazing yard set-up! :-) Yours is truly vine heaven!!! :-)

Gardenpom - Love your photos! Where do you have most of your MGs growing? On a fence?

Mesilla Park, NM

Oh god Becky, I don't know if any of the crosses took...I sure hope so.. I'm having nightmares, thinking none took..lol.. I guess we'll see what we get.. some of mine have buds, but they are so slow, well, I am really curious too. Almost everyone that I am growing are crosses, but, I've lost some with this new potting soil, at least I think that is what it is and I've got to get them outside soon. Just one more week and I think I'll take most of them outside.

You guys are doing fantastic, I love all the flowers that Fuji no Sora is nice, I like those fuji's.

A.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Doesn't matter if the crosses took or not! They are sprouting and I am excited to get more MGs growing! In fact, all of the seeds from you that I planted have had a 100% germination rate so far. :-) That's pretty good odds!!!!

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

If you removed the pollen from the pod parent the evening before and it had not been released yet and tied it plus tied the pollen parent to keep the pollen clean then that goes a long way for making a strict cross. Seeds means it "took". :)

Good luck! Karen

Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

gardenpom...love those pics and thanks so much, its inspiring for me and wish I lived in FL. I also love all the other pics from everyone and sorry, but Im getting on board to the thread here very late as usual...and just got off duty and found this thread. I live in Vancouver and have many types of MG's, but you will have to wait for pics. I have tons of stuff growing right now...Im getting very impatient, as I used to live in Atlanta and was so used to that zone.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Glad to see you here, sydney480! Can't wait to see your MG photos!
