Jackie - Lovely! Oh yeah! One of my favorite deep blue MGs! I've never seen that color in any other plant except MGs! Love it!

Louisville, KY

ooh! that's one I definitely covet.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Nichole, Becky and Soulja. The color does make this one special.
Soulja, I'll see if I have extra seeds of this one to share. Pretty sure I do :)

Patootie, That IS a very pretty blue. : ) I smile, every time I see your name, That is a very cute 'stage' name.

Soulja, you just have the nak for growing MG's. All of yours are always so pretty. : ) I need to get some more planted. Good thing to do today, huh? : )

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Lucy.

Love the Ten Ten Soulja. What's the size range on the bloom?
Great pics by the way.

Louisville, KY

it was about the 3rd bloom from the plant and the first couple were tiny and did not open up all the way and were sort of brown on the ends. This one was nice though and it's about 2 inches. I suspect they just get better & better, but it's a small breed I hear. The foliage is thick and dark green and loaded with buds for tomorrow.

thanks Lucy & Jackie and yeah the photos of others on here made me get my rear in gear in the darkest part of winter when I felt hopeless that spring would ever come. I wanted them to be mature by May. It's a start. =)

Lookin good there Soulja!!! Love the close-up shot!

Nice shot of the backs of the blooms, Gardenpom!

Here is my new cross - Lady Laura (Pink Form) x Yaguruma Blizzard. Need a name for this one for labeling purposes. Any ideas for a good name, please d-mail me. (Don't want to tie up this thread with that kind of high-jack.)

OMG how georgeous !! will think of a name.

Melbourne, FL

Can't give you a name, sorry. I buy mixed packs and they have all kinds of names that change depending on what company sells the seeds.

South/Central, FL(Zone 9a)

Becky, It looks like Raspblueberry Cloud, to me. LOL

I can never name new plants. I had a hard time just naming my own kids. : )

Manassas, VA

I came back from spending the day helping a friend get their garden ready for this year's activities, to find this waiting for me on the windowsill.

This is my first moonflower bloom (there's another below it, too), and I have to say that I'm impressed. The seeds, the leaves, the vines, the buds, the flowers, and even the pollen grains - there isn't anything about this plant that isn't HUGE! I was gone for the opening of the blooms, but I've seen video clips online that show them opening in real-time right before the camera - I've got to try and catch that with some of the upcoming blooms on the vines.

Karen - I love the name - Raspblueberry Cloud! I may use that if the blue stays, if you don't mind. :-)

Seamus - I ,too, am in awe of Moon Flowers! One of my favorite vines and I have a lot of vines (not just MGs), so for one to stick out as a favorite for me says it has outstanding qualities! MF certainly fit that bill! Thanks for posting yours. I am starting seeds for more along my fence. :-) Nice to see a photo to get me excited to grow them again!

gardenpom - I just love your photo editor! Very cool program! Nice blooms. Did you get rain? We did, hadn't had any rain before last night. It was much needed down here in Sebastian. Rain always seems to elude us here just a little south of you.

Louisville, KY

gp: LOVE those! Becky I got one this morning with that pale blue & pink. Not as drama as yours, but the colors were much more intense than I can get with this camera and the texture is like pure powdery silk. (couldn't get that here either).

the moon at dusk is so reliably beautiful and regal.
I love it.

and seamus, I LOVE the giant Moons!!! You can get drunk on the smell, and the night sphinx moths they attract.... My moons are started already inside and they're getting huge already begging to go out like dogs!!! Here's mine from last year.

soulja, your garden is gorgeous. I love the wood and ceramic tiles, the nice way you've arranged everything.

Melbourne, FL

Lots of rain last night Becky, and more heading in from the west later today.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Soulja, your bloom above in post ending # 181 is gorgeous. I love the color
and the powdery, silky texture.

Becky I can't get over your new cross, a beautiful and impressive bloom.

Nice blooms gardenpom and seamus

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Wow all your pictures are spectacular...how I envy you Florida people right now!!

Becky I love this one and will beg for seeds!!http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=4760894

Soulja this one is awesome!!! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=4766181

Here is one that is still inside for me...it was traded to me as "unknown blue from Livingston seeds"

A pretty bloom Ronnie. Wish we knew it's true identity.

South/Central, FL(Zone 9a)

Another round of beautiful MG's. I love it. : )

Becky, you can use Raspblueberry Cloud. : ) It just looked like raspberries and blueberries on a cloud, to me. lol

Soulja - I can see the light blue in this one http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=4766181 . Very, very nice! All of them are really nice eye-candy! I can't get over that fact that they are all growing indoors! Amazing!!! Your vine heaven in your garden is to die for! Really great lay-out! :-) Perfect for Moon Flowers, too!

Ronnie - Nice NOID! Pretty color of blue with the white border! :-)

Karen - I really like the name! On my Yaguruma Blizzard vine blooms they started out with that pale blue and then starting getting lighter until they became more white around the border, so I want to see what the blooms on this vine does.

And YES! I will share seeds of my cross with whoever wants seeds. Let's see how the seed production goes and I'll let y'all know for sure! :-)

Louisville, KY

I just cannot stop staring at those flowers Becky!!! I mean it's killin' me!!! Has anyone ever seen anything like that? ~ Hm. keep posting, it's so strange because the pictures look underexposed or something. Its like an optical illusion or like it's in shadow or like the colors are not real .... i can't put my finger on it.

i think it needs a very unusual & odd, heavy name. Strange Magic, or Dangerous Mood (like the iris) or Morning Eclipse, or Comets Eye, or Dark Cotton, or Wind Tunnel, or Becky's Atomic Love Child, or Summer of 69, or Blue Gill in a Blender!!! {;-D

(Judith) Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

I'm getting PO'd at you all!! It's not even time to plant my MG seeds -- another month or six weeks... :-(

South/Central, FL(Zone 9a)

Becky, have you renamed me "Karen" ? lmbo : )
~Lucy

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

Hey Shawna-I've been keeping up and WOW I LOVE ten-ten. Soooo pretty. ; ) And I think you are right on with a mysterious evocative name for Becky's cross!
Maybe Becky was thinking of Bluespiral who is Karen????

Louisville, KY

she knows Lucy! it was a typo.

Hi Kath. I hope your back feels better. (((I'm glad you like Radiohead. It doesn't surprise me that you do. cool cat that you are.

rev, mine are all grown inside. they're begging to go out though so I take them out for fresh air and acclamation like Sylvia does. But we're not quite like Florida yet...

Lucy - Forgive me ... when I looked at your name, I was thinking of Karen (bluespiral). I just saw "blue" and automatically thought Karen. So sorry! You get the credit if I use the name! :-) And of course you'll get seeds either way! :-) Many of the butterfly folks have come to join us here or been lurking! I either get the names mixed up or think I am on the other forum! LOL!

Shawna - Ahhh ... radiohead ... I was wondering why those names sounded a bit familiar! LOL at all the funny names you came up with ... Becky's Atomic Love Child or Blue Gill in a Blender! How much funnier can the names get!!! ROTFLMBO!

I was outside working all day and only got 10 of the 20 MG seeds planted. I am going to try growing them in the ground this time around. We'll see how that works. If it doesn't, then back in the pots they go the next round of seeds. I had to amend the beds deeper so it was real pain and backbreaking work. I love planting, but hate all the work of creating new garden bed areas. My yard is sand, weeds, and heaven knows what the builder dumped in the ground as fill. I found chunks of concrete and brick today. Arghhhhh! I no sooner got into the house when I was finally done, than the thunder storms came rolling in! My gosh, what a lightening and thunder storm we've had all evening. I was surprised we didn't have a power outage!

Go here down to the bottom of this thread for a good laugh to see how I am setting up my MG garden area:
