Thanks OP. I am surprised to still be seeing Goldfinches, Buntings and especially Cedar Waxwings at this late date. It had been a very colorful season here, with a large number of Buntings spending the winter/spring here this year.
Daily Pics Vol. #85
Thanks Deb.
garden: Waxwings are my favorites. Keep the birdies coming. The entertainment's great. Thank you!
Googled the painted bunting. Says their population is declining. So sad. Well, with friends like gardenpom, perhaps their species will begin to regain numbers. Let's hope.
OP,we had quit a winter. Lots and lots of snow. I'm not going to see green for quit some time. Those Crow do make some loud conversation, that's for sure.
Thanks GP and Deb. We have a few neighbors that have pine trees, and I see the crow on there all the time. This one came down for cat food, I had thrown on the snow. That's how I got the pic., this is another one of him.
Thank goodness you all take care of those frozen birds also. Mine have it pretty easy down here in the winter. You would think more of them would wise up and head South to escape that COLD!
That Quail is beautiful. Great pic!
Thanks GP
Amazing quails! Good night all.
adel, thanks for posting the quail. I always love to see those. They are so lovely, they look fake.
Gardenpom and all those down south, I'm so happy when you post your pictures with all those lovely colors and green!!! It's so icky here. I just try to remember that in a month from now I will have a big bouquet of lilacs on my table!
Everyone else, they all look wonderful.
Oh Congratulations Jane!!
The Vermillion Flycatcatcher is so beautiful!
Very nice pics!
Vermillion Flycatchers are such wonderful birds. I have lots of memories of seeing them in AZ when I lived there. We have scarlet tanagers here that are as brilliant but I rarely see them. When I do, it's feels like a magic day.
Hi ge! Very nice pic!
I'll bet that does look odd; their big birds!
I love Crows, there are about six that call this territory home. Suburb development with woodland creek running thru. Great for watching birds, lived here since July.
That does like a great bird watching area!
ge - Hi neighbor! I've never seen them near my suet, but a crow was checking out my feeder just a few minutes ago for the first time (or that I observed). New behavior? Hmm. They're so intelligent.
Wow gp. Very cool. What kind of hawk?
Hi opbirder
I just came back from a walk and the Robins are going nuts, I am never satisfied at theis time of year and want to hear the Song Sparrow too, another month for that
Jo Ann
This is so much fun. I feel like I've traveled all around the U.S. through you and your birds.
What kind of hawk?
Looks like Cooper's to me.
Resin
Beautiful pics every one!!
I really love seeing the ones from the UK and the western US, that I know I'll never get a chance to see in person.
NM Jane, that Vermilion Flycatcher is a beauty!
Adel, I love seeing your CA Quail, their little head decorations are too cute :-)
Resin, thanks for bringing me back to reality on the Yellow-rumped Warbler, LOL, I do remember now that I had read they were just migrants for me :-(
GP, I'm still waiting on you to send the Indigo Buntings my way ;-) I looked at the migration maps on enature.com and they don't show them here until around May 1st...guess I'll just have to be patient! I did notice on the Ruby-throat tracking map that they should be here any time now, that's so exciting, my feeders are going up next week.
Here is a truly terrible pic of a new bird sighting for me, Cedar Waxwings from 3/13. You're right Pelle, they came around 6:30 when it's hard to get a photo, plus they were way up in the top of an old elm which didn't help matters. I guess they were just resting and checking out the scenery. There were a dozen or more and they stayed for about 15 minutes and I haven't seen them since.

Here's a feeder that I bought to put in woods for the squirrels and never got around to it. I read somewhere that the Woodpeckers would eat whole kernel corn and I guess they do. Unfortunately, the raccoons got to it later and broke the screw off that holds the cob so I'll have to put a new screw in it.
Just getting caught up on everybody's pics. Fabulous as usual! Thanks for sharing. Amazing to me how I am never bored by new pictures of the same birds! LOL
