Storm songs and psychadelic 60's

(Zone 7a)

Okay, folks! Please put on your best thinking-cap...

I'm putting a couple of CDs together for a brother of mine for his B-day. I need storm songs (songs about the ocean are included) and songs from the 60s that are "psychedelic". (Now I know how to spell it. lol) Here's what I have so far...

Storms-Ocean

Storms In Africa-Enya
Sitting On the Dock of the Bay-?
Ride, Captain, Ride-?
Wooden Ships-Crosby, Stills and Nash
Riding the Storm Out-REO Speedwagon
Calypso-John Denver

60s...

Journey to the Center of the Mind-Amboy Dukes
I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night-Electric Prunes
Magic Carpet Ride-Steppenwolf
Mama Told Me Not To Come-3 Dog Night

All your suggestions are appreciated. I have time. His B-day isn't until June.

Thanks, Melody. I had forgotten some of these and I'm looking up the Jimmy Buffet ones now. I haven't heard those.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

due to a night of insomnia, I can add a few more goodies.

Black Water...Doobie Brothers

Like a Hurricane...Neil Young
Galveston...Glen Campbell
Who'll Stop The Rain... CCR (actually a thinly veiled protest song)
When the Ship comes In..Bob Dylan (a not so thinly veiled protest song)

(Zone 7a)

Cool! My brother is going to have a whole boxed set before long! ☺

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Here I am- Rock me Like a Hurricane? thinking its not the same as the one by Neil Diamond above..

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Neil Young was the artist in the above post.

(Zone 7a)

Hurricane was the Scorpions.

Waterman, IL(Zone 5a)

The Woodstock album has a lot of stuff on it. It was a double album originally, but I don't know if iTunes offers it. I wasn't there, but I sure remember all the news stories when it happened.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

There are 2 double Woodstock albums. 4 discs in all. Album 1 has the couple standing, with a blanket around them on the cover. Album 2 has little children on the front. (I have them both on vinyl) Album 2 is very difficult to come by, and is extremely collectible.

Waterman, IL(Zone 5a)

I wish I knew then what I know now! Got rid of all my vinyls in 1989. What was I thinking? Our friends have one wall of shelves in their spare room filled with albums, in alphabetical order no less. They are both old hippies, I bet they still have Woodstock. If they do, I'll make them drag it out next time we're over there and listen to it again.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

I still have a turntable. My vinyl collection is vast, and I keep adding to it. (it's now the hip thing to have among college students too) My sis and her boyfriend used to follow the Grateful Dead around the country in an old van long before it was cool.

(Zone 7a)

Peace, brothers and sisters! I have a German copy of the Woodstock album. A brother of mine picked it up when he was there years and years ago.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Germany produced some great recordings. The quality was wonderful. They have a great business now with re-issuing old out of print stuff. If it's obscure and hard to find, chances are, it's German.

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

Stormy Monday - Lee Michaels
(also recorded by Etta James, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Roomful of Blues, and many, many others).

Waterman, IL(Zone 5a)

Saw the Woodstock album for sale on the GEMM website. They wanted $350 for it. YIKES!

(Zone 7a)

Which version? Please say the German! LOL

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Go ask Alice Jefferson airplane-Starship

Waterman, IL(Zone 5a)

Kwanjin: There's a question mark where the version is supposed to be.

(Zone 7a)

Too bad.

I should have a list compiled before too long and I'll post it.

This post was edited out because I thought I was on a different thread. * blushing *

Santa Fe, NM

I thought I would think of more stormy 60's songs but I didn't. Oh! Yes, I did. "Everyone Knows It's Windy" by ? Anybody remember that one?

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

I think the Association did a song about Windy.

(Zone 7a)

I'm halfway through the list, please bear with me. ☺ Keep the suggestions coming, though!

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Ina Gada Davida by Iron Butterfly (I might be spelling it wrong). That's definitely psychadelic.
Listen to the rythym of the pouring rain (can't think of the title and can't remember who sang it)
You want really psychadelic, Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Been racking my brains trying to remember Tubular bells. That is a good one.
