I've decided to plant a fragrant fast growing evergreen vine in the area near my pool next to the fence (see picture). The area gets full sun. Some suggested roses, but I don't want something w/ thorns near the walk-way. Another suggested a rose without thorns, but I couldn't find one that was fragrant. Any recommendations?
Fragrant fast growing evergreen vine
Bignonia capreolata - http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=BICA
Gelsemium sempervirens - http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=GESE
Lonicera sempervirens - http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=LOSE
The vines Jsorens suggested are all nice but not really fragrant. I would suggest Trachelospermum jasminoides (Star Jasmine) if you don't mind it possibly rooting into the wood a little.
Yeah, I do wanted something fragrant. How long does the star jasmine bloom?
In zone 7b it usually starts in mid-April and then blooms sporadically throughout summer. And it smells heavenly!
Thanks!!
