I don't know if this happens for anyone else, but my squirrels often decide it is just too hot and spread themselves out flat on the mulch. In this case, she went for the trunk of the tree and it was not that hot out. Maybe just wanted some belly scratches!
Mine do that, but up on the branches. Cracks me up!
