Squirrel pics

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Hello Everyone
Thanks for posting those great photos.
I hope you consider submitting to the DG photo contest because you all have a great chance to win!

It is just starting to warm up outside and the other morning I was birdwatching from my window while having coffee. No birds tho. I didn't have anything else in the house, so I threw out a bunch of flax seed. Sat there awhile and nothing happened of course. Got home from work and there was a crowd of squirrels in front of that window. First time I saw so many at once. When we lived in NY - the boroughs and upstate - I can remember squirrels everywhere. Florida too. But in NC, although I do see them and I have seen signs of them (they enlarge the door in my wooden birdhouses --if you wanted to see something hilarious you ought to have seen me up on a ladder peering in a birdhouse and encountering the upclose face-only of a squirrel..(up close their faces look like tiny monkey faces) Anyway, I made like a flying squirrel and me and the ladder parted ways! I'm not sure who was more scared me or the little fella! Please keep posting the photos - I love them all. Dorothy

Oh my, must have been quite the scare!

I looked out early this morning and the birds were sitting in the trees looking at the house. I wondered what was up, until I saw the feeders were not out. (DH takes them in at night, due to the raccoon visits, they tend to be on search and destroy)
Well, guess he forgot to put them out this morning. The birds were non too patient. Expected them to be tapping on the window next.

PATTY DUKE THEME SONG
(from the t.v. show "Patty Duke")

By: Patty Duke

Meet Cathy who's lived most everywhere.
From Zanzibar to Barkley's square.
But Patty's only seen the sights
a girl can see from Brooklyn heights.
What a crazy pair.

But they're cousins,
identical cousins all the way.
One pair of matching bookends,
different as night and day.

Where Cathy adores a minuet,
the ballet Rouse, and crepe suosette.
Our Patty loves to rock-n-roll,
a hot dog makes her lose control,
what a wild duet.

Still they're cousins,
identical cousins and you'll find,
they laugh alike, they walk alike,
at times they even talk alike,
you can lose your mind!

When cousins, are two of a kind!

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Oh my!
I will have that stuck in my head now. Thanks for posting, I don't think I ever knew all the words to that one. ^_^

Melbourne, FL

It was a neat show, Patty Duke sure did an excellent job portraying two people.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

So are the squirrels named Patty and Cathy yet?

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Think that's it! LOL

We were calling this one 'Fat Eddy', think we need to change that...

This little fellow kept trying to get up the pole but the slinky was making it difficult....
Unfortunately he's so little and lightweight that he scrambled his way up anyhow.
...pretty comical however.

I took this picture actually for the burl on the tree. But loved that the squirrels were all playful around it.

Here is mine for today, which was ctually taken yesterday...what the heck is a burl anyway??

Mrs Ed the pic is great! I love the "hidden" squirrels.
Nanny, too cute! How did you capture that without any blurring? What color on that squirrel. We are in the same zone, but our squirrels don't seem to have quite as rich color. It is a grey squirrel, no?

Melbourne, FL

That is HUGE! I did'nt see the squirrels at first. The burl looks like an explosion of sorts. Thanks Gardenfrances for the compliment.

We have the fox squirrels here. Maybe to their rich natural diet maybe or the oil from all the sunflower seeds they eat from my feeders!. LOL

Brainerd, MN

I didn't realize we had squirrel postings. Great idea - that and cipmunks. That last shot is so funny!

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)
