Pony Tails Question

Does anyone know how to get the pups of a pony tail plant to grow? I've tried just plucking them from the base, but can't get the little ones to take hold.

I love my Ponytail. I've had it for 30 years. Only within the last 10 years it's produced the little plants. I don't know how to transplant the little ones, but I wish mine would stop producing them. It's outgrown her pot again. I'm going to have to break this one to get her out.
