OK, who has Tulips?

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Beahive, I think the red tulip is Apeldoorn. Spectacular display of tulips there!

Your rocky bank is looking good Tammy!

Wow claypa, love that field of red tulips, lol, looks like you splashed out big time!

I like your little bunch of red tulips too jmorth, they look like Apeldoorn.

Love your colour blends Neal, they look gorgeous in the grass and glowing in the sun!

I haven't been able to load this for days, takes a long time now even though dave has zippy new servers.

This is the middle of Apeldoorn, I had a few others but they seem to be shy this year or the bulb fly got them.

I got 3 T. humilis alba coerulea oculata 'Rosea' whew, long name, it's got a pink glow but I ordered the 'straight' one for this autumn too. Small numbers costly = big numbers cheap, lol.

gemini,
i planted 200 t tardia that i got from bleek during the fall and early winter. didnt find a single full bloom. :( however, i did find a couple that looked like they tried to bloom and were barely out of the ground. i got them because they are supposed to do well in our climate and come back. i thought maybe i just needed to be more patient. but now that i see yours in full bloom and a couple of zones colder, i am not so sure.

Would like some more. Its beautiful. It reminds me of a dahlia.

Tracie, these T.tarda came from bleek too. I wonder if your winter wasn't cold enough for them? Or another thought, when did you plant them? I've some more that I picked up late on sale from another vendor (Brent&Beckys') that are way behind the clump in the pic. They're just pipping out of the ground, but it was December by the time they got planted. Keeping my fingers crossed for ya that they're just being slow this year.

Thanks, Janet! The soil over there is very good, and I gave them some fertilizer, so I'm hopeful for good return. I decided to try them in the grass so that they would receive no extra watering this summer, and its far enough from the house that keeping that grass unmowed for a while won't look too messy.

My T.clusianas are blooming beautifully now! Gotta get some pics of them. I've got 3 forms colored up now, and a 4th on the way.

In the past years I hadn't planted tulips but I grew them for the first time in many years.

Supposedly these are Hollandia -- definately not red -- but I like the peachy-pink color anyway. The pot at the end was supposed to be all Lemon Swirl (not ready for prime time yet) but I must have added few of the peachy-pinks by mistake

This reddish pink one is 30 inches tall, kind of blue in the center. The daffs are starting to fade, time to dead head.

Wow and Wow!
Some gorgeous tulips in this thread!!!!! I never really planted tulips before. Last year was my first year with any tulips. Here is a photo of them this 2nd year. Why I never planted them before, I must have been crazy. But you all have some very special tulips!

Hi gemini,

Those small violet flowers are Lathyrus vernus. To my relief, they bloomed same time in a timely fashion.

Hi BeaHive,

Thank you! Your friendly koi fish are so cute:) Especially the gold one is gorgeous !

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Oh, I'm so thrilled to know that, goldenfish! I wintersowed some Lathyrus vernus in pink and purple last year and again this year. The purple from last year have returned! I understand they require patience from seed, but your pic is very encouraging!

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Neal, my Lathyrus vernus are just opening now too, some things vary widely in different climates as to when they open. Mine are still in pots and growing nicely, I desperately need to get them in the ground as they have long roots and need to be planted out when still young. They should make a good show when mature with lots of plants!

goldenfish, Cairo was a good choice!

I have only one lonely Gavota in flower now.

So sad..but you went out with a bang! Beautiful one!!
What is next after the tulips in your neck of the woods?

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks BeaHive - well my last Festiva Maxima peonies are blooming - irises are blooming now...and lilies are getting started! Had my first two lily plants bloom today. ^_^

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Wow..sounds like you are in good company and have lots to keep you entertained in your tulips absence. I did find a bud on one of my peonie, still nothing on my roses, various lillies are poking out . Many things going on, but not fast enough as far as I am concerned!
Warm weather in the PNW would help very much!

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Well please post pictures of your plants when they bloom, BeaHive! I would love to see them.
