Courtyard Entry Landscaping

I am need of some help to landscape my courtyard in the front of my house.

It faces North in Zone 6 and is partially shaded by the garage (our house is in an L shape. We have foundation plant that are going well (boxwoods) but I would like to finish the rest of the courtyard. There is also a japanese maple in the middle.

Can you post some pictures of the area? It really helps to be able to visualize the area, I think more people will have suggestions that way.
