Me again, the one w/the small 320 sq ft fenced in back yard. I still can't decide if I want to go with the river rocks. I like the look, but worried about all the pine trees behind my house and the pine needles that are always falling into my yard. My yard has pinestraw on one side and grass that tried to grow on the other side. Other than wanting my yard to look nice, I'm trying to decide what would be best to put out there for my little yorkies that carry wet dirt into the house. There is dirt where there is partly grass, which stays moist and when it rains, it's even worse when the dogs have to go out and come back in. The pinestraw isn't as bad. So, here are my questions:
1. Would you go with pinestraw (since that's what falls in my yard anyway), or river rocks? I'm not crazy about the mulch look. (pros/cons of pinestraw)?
2. What is the safest way to kill the grass before putting either the pinestraw or rocks down? Don't want to hurt my dogs.
3. If I go w/the rocks, I want a 2" depth...how can I do this? What tool(s)?
4. Any particular black fabric to use after I get the yard ready?
Ideas??? Thanks!!!!!!!
Leveling, digging a 2" depth, opinions/guidance needed.
