Wow rose, how fun is THAT cardinal picture. Very. Thanks for it!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Very nice job on your pics Rose, hard to get pictures like your shot of Cardinals. Have to be there at the right time, and ready. Fantastic.

GG glad your little Downy is ok.

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

That brown headed nuthatch is a pretty bird. I never saw one before. Rose, that picture of the cardinals is a definite winner. What a fantastic shot.
I see your lady bluebird has her feathers all preened and neat for her date. Can't wait to see those little ones.

Yep, the little downy is in great shape and will probably be eating the house tomorrow.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thank you all for your nice comments on the Cardinal shot. I was just sitting there waiting for the BB's to come in and was killing time! Just a lucky shot but hope to do one on purpose someday!

GG..I read someplace where a lady had birds that flew into her windows regularly and when it happened she would cradle the bird in her hand until it "came to" and she said they always came out of it. I guess it is the warmth from the hands that helps.

These little birds let me get really close now. They are just interested in eating..that's why Adel calls them "piggies"!

American Goldfinch

Great pics everyone!

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

I wish my Goldfinch would get tame!

Regarding the little Downie, when I picked it up, it was stunned, but was looking right at me with those little beady eyes. But, when I was holding it and it kind of nestled into my hands and wrapped its little feet around my finger, well, that made a true bird lover out of me! Thank goodness it was only stunned and recovered.

Here is Mr. Jay, looking his usual king of the hill self. He eats cat chow on the front porch and then he poops on the porch railing. No manners at all!

Great pic bsharf! I can't wait till the weather breaks a little and I can get down the shore.

GG, My Goldfinch are the same way very flighty. I had a Goldfinch hit the window once and I held him for a while but he made it very clear that he did not like being held so I eventually put him in a bush until he was ready to take off.

Brainerd, MN
