Hubby and I just raked up 10 contractor sized bags of leaves from the yard. I would love to start a compost pile but have a gadzillion other projects going on right now. Was thinking of maybe keeping one of the bags and using the dead leaves in plantings, repottings, etc. They are bagged in clear thick plastic bags. Think I can keep some or will condensation build up in the bag and the leaves start to mildew? Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

Have leaves but no compost :(
I don't have room for a compost pile. I bag all of my leaves and stack the bags behind the garage where no one can see them. When I bag them I wet the contents down after I take them there and let them rot over the summer and they compost in the bags. In the spring I dump them in the garden. It works pretty well for me. There are a few on the tops of the bags that don't break down. I rake them into the lawn and run over those with my mulching mower.
I always shred the leaves up and put them on the garden right away, I don't even worry about letting them rot in the bags, I let them decompose right in the garden beds. Saves a whole lot of trouble that way! If you do that you really ought to shred them up first, unshredded leaves can mat together and make it harder for water to get through to the soil.
Both are good ideas - thank you :)
