In early fall of 07' I bought a nice Hibiscus tree. I did not prune this, since I'm a beginner who's truly scared of pruning wrong. Well, my horse took the liberty of reaching over the slouching fence and took to eating my hibiscus. At the moment I was really upset about the whole thing but as time passed my plant started growing many lush leaves and I'm expecting alot of flowers now. My tree actually looks better now than when I 1'st brought it home. After seeing the results to this I automatically started pruning other plants, which I'm very happy to say are also coming along nicely. This is proof that the lord works in mysterious ways! The lord showed me that is so easy that even a horse can do it! LOL! We are presently putting up a new horse fence to keep the horse out of our yard. I hope this article helps to encourge others scared of pruning to just go for it, you will be happy you did!!!
My Horse knows better gardening than me! LOL!!!
Good one! Hope you give your horse all the parts you prune off as a "thank you" for showing you something you needed to know--sounds like he will appreciate it, lol.
Luv, i agree, the Lord works in mysterious ways, or is it that the Lord gives the same lesson but people mysteriously interpret in different ways.lol. I would have assumed that that's why the Lord gave us horses, to do the pruning. And i would have used the fence for a different purpose, to keep the horse in the yard to mow it.lol!
LOL! Great! Can I borrow your horse? I too have 3 hibiscus plants, that I do not dare to prune, though I know of the benefits. I simply do not have the heart to do it, they keep blooming, and blooming, and blooming. They didn't take a break for half a year now. You might say: why do you want to cut them then?
The problem is that they are each one long branch (over 3 feet tall now), not bushing at all.
So, please, please can I borrow your horse?
