I need a good (hopefully organic and not too expensive) way to prevent weed seeds from germinating.
It about killed me last year with all the weeding in our large garden.
We need something that won't hurt our vegetables (or us).
Any ideas?
Tankies,
Jocie.
Weeds! Ugh.
Corn gluten is a good organic pre-emergent herbicide. It'll only prevent weeds that are coming up from seed though, if you have perennial weeds that are coming back from the roots pre-emergents won't do anything about those.
I read that the corn gluten was harming fish and water... I cant remember if it was the gluten or the ingredients used as a carrier?
If you see that info anywhere, can you post some links? I have never heard anything like that and I can't imagine how it would cause any harm. Plenty of non-organic weed killers, fertilizers, etc can have that effect but everything I've ever read on corn gluten says it's fine. It's certainly way better than the non-organic alternatives.
