Request for Hellebore forum

Winston-Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

strange tilly, Im sure its just an oversight. Welcome!

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

If you posted somewhere for the first time and didn't get welcomed, it's likely that most of the people on that forum have seen you around other places already and didn't realize it was the first time you were posting on that forum. For me personally, I generally recognize people's names who I've seen around, but with a few exceptions I couldn't tell you with any certainty what forums I've seen them post on. Or the other possibility is that on some forums that are more broad/general interest (like Perennials and some of the other less specific forums) people don't develop as much of a "family" sort of feeling as you do on the regional forums and some of the specific plant type forums. On the more general interest type of forums you're more likely to have people answer your questions, admire your plants, etc but probably take a little less interest in you personally than you'll find in a more specific forum with a smaller but more cohesive community.

In either case, I wouldn't interpret it as not being welcome in that forum, I doubt if that's the case. Most likely either they all thought you'd posted there before, or it's one of those forums that tends to have a lot more people post on it and people don't develop as close personal relationships as they do on the regional and more specialized forums.

I am going to do a hellebore co op! check out the thread. its just to gage the interest so far but its promising. I will be posting the order thread soon.

We've had a lot of conversation in the PNW Forum about hellebores. They are long-lived here - mine have been up and out since early January. Today we had a question about natural hybridization of hellebores. I'd like to make my vote again for a hellebore forum!!

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

I would definitely add my vote for a Hellebores forum as well - they are divine!!!

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

I would also like to add my vote for a Hellebore forum. It has been my favorite plants ever since my sister gave me a clump about ten years ago. Where I live it is perfect. Visable all year. Safe from deer. Gives babies. Contains itself. I would say they are a plant of the future.

Ahhh, another fine plant that deserves more attention: a fabulous workhorse in the garden.
I would love to see a forum devoted to these, and if they don't merit a forum of their own, why not a joint venture with others? A themed forum for Spring bloomers, or specialty perennials, or...?

I have that one. Isn't it pretty. Love it.

I think a site just for Hellebore's, is something we need, I never knew what they where, till A DGer in England told me about them last spring and sent me some seeds, which have just sprouted, And after she told me about them I bought my First one, at a garden store in a 2Gal pot. Which I did not really know how to take care of it. It would be a good site to share, Pics, colors, and any other problems that a newb would need. and also to share seeds. And ideas

This is the one I bought, Its first bloom.

As most of the PNW'ers here know, I have only just discovered Hellebores and I LOVE THEM! They are wonderful, unpretentious plants which really tickle the eye. I am so excited to get my new babies in the ground today and am hoping for that infamous natural hybridization. Definitely need a forum just for these beauties!

I second all those comments!!! Love em.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

My hellebores are starting to bloom now.

I was hoping we would get enough interest to have a separate forum for them.

Maybe if I did more than lurk on the hellebore threads in the perennial forum, I would have had more luck with this. It seemed like there was a lot of interest in them, because the threads are always so long.

Thanks to everyone who replied and said they would like a forum too. Perhaps some time in the future there will be enough interest.

Jules

Jules, I thought the same thing. I'm just getting a little new growth on mine.

Please Dave, What do we have to do?????

Winston-Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

Well, since my co op is closed about 44 people ordered lots of helles. Thats 44 people that love em! I suppose that number would have been bigger but it was my first co op so many didnt even order. Id say there is a lot of interest here. We need a helle forum:-)

Mine are coming up. Not in bloom yet, but I would love to see pictures of the fancier ones, doubles, etc.

I'm hoping we get a forum for them too.

Brunswick, MD(Zone 6b)

Here's a picture of my Hellebore Immanence Series 'Double Melody'. Most of mine are doing well this year so far. If you want to look at the rest of mine you can check out my garden journal. http://davesgarden.com/tools/journal/viewbycat.php?cat=48027 I put them in their own category, and I whole heartedly believe they deserve their own forum.
