I drove a 120 miles this morning looking for birds to photograph, and never took the lens cap off. Back home I took a number of pictures out the kitchen window. This Redpoll posed for several seconds.

This is a female Redpoll. She doesn't have pink on the breast.

Thank you for starting the new thread. Very feathery! :)

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Quoting:
This Chickadee has a curved tail

Probably from roosting in a small hole where it doesn't have enough room for the tail. It'll straighten out again when it gets warm enough in spring for it to find some water to bathe in.

The curved tail brings to mind a question...do birds roost in the same place every night, or the same general area?

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Gary...lovely birds for a lovely start for a new thread, thanks for starting it!

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Quoting:
do birds roost in the same place every night

If they feel safe in it, yes. They may also use various different roost sites depending on weather or time of year, etc.

Considering how dark & cloudy it was at the time I was suprised they turned out as well as they did. Looks like the clouds are finally starting to break up now.

Another..Eastern Bluebird. This one shows the colors on the back pretty good.

Aside from looking for & finding bluebirds today, I was also chasing this hawk around all day. Trying & trying to get a good photo, but there was to be NO cooperation on it's part! These very sad photos are the best I got. If anyone can ID it for me from these you need a prize!!

It didn't seem large enough for a Turkey Vulture and it was being chased by crows and I have never seen the crow chase the vultures.
OH, OKay Pelle!! :-)
