Freezing drizzle outside,looking toward springtime!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I thought about that one but resisted! Don't need anymore right now. I don't even know where most of these can go since I don't know what plants are gonna come back.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I think I will make just a lily bed since there are 19 of them!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I would love to make a new bed but that requires dirt and rock and that's expensive. Especially since the bed would be huge.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

My biggest expense will be the landscaping timbers, but they aren't very high.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

We have those but are wanting to use rocks in the new beds. The timbers we have now are over 10 yrs old and are still doing good but we don't want anymore.

Here's a pic of one of our retaining walls. We used landscape timbers and on some other walls we also used railroad ties.

Hey I think that looks cool!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

It was built out of necesity. Major erosion when we moved in. We have walls on both sides of the house and both sides of the front half. But they do dress up the yard a bit and do the job so no complaints! lol

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Throw some stain on them and make them stand out!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Nah, we like them natural. lol. They have been that way the whole time. Some are starting to splinter a bit so they will eventually get replaced. Though with what I have no idea.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I have some natural, but most are stained barn red.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

We just kept them natural to go with the surroundings. We are out in the country surrounded by pastures and lots of trees here on our acre so they look good like that. The red would look good too but we don't have anything red out here so it would look a bit off the wall. lol.

We are actually the envy of all our neighbors. They want our yard. Funny thing is we want theirs! lol

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Isn't that usually how it goes, though! I added some yellow on some things and my oldest son thinks it is hideous! HA HA HA

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL. If we had alot of colorful things out here it would look great but everything is natural so we go with that theme. But I love color and love it when someone else goes crazy with it!!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm in the middle of tearing out my timbers..
I have a pallet and a half of boulders sitting in my driveway. some of them take two people pick up. - I have a few placed already and what a difference it is making..(at least to me)

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

RJ, if I was closer I'd take those timbers off your hands! ☺

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

HA HA Me, too! But my baby decided she wanted to stay with her aunt, so my bed will be lonely since I am used to her sleeping with me when Daddy is at work.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Nothing like baby snuggles :)

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I know, and she has been gone ALL day on top of it all! I got to see her about 45 minutes before she went to school and then the stinker didn't want to come home after her pizza party with Auntie!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Guess Aunties need snuggles too!...Need a laugh? my cat dug up my brug sprouts that I killed twice..once when I pulled the head off... the leaves grew back....again when the bulb was to close they recovered she was just rolling around in the soil like it was catnip...ther are gone for sure now!! Dang cat.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Night bigger plant nut!!! ♥

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Misty, the weather and termites are tough on timbers..that's why I'm yanking them out...

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

So far so good with ours, but ya just never know. Weather I don't mind, but NO termites, please! LOL

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

oh I know..they're horrible here... I really had to treat the deck wood before building it

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

How did you treat yours? We paid that arm and a leg for the treated wood at Lowe's!!!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I also bought them treated, and then treated them again.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Oh ok, thanks.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

We haven't treated ours. We did put a weed barrier between the wood and dirt to help hold them in and to keep plants from growing thru the wall. That has worked everywhere except where the daylilies are. lol

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Yep,those daylilies are about as tough as a plant there ever was!!!!
Might get to 70* tomorrow!!!!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Lucky you...snow and rain is all we gettin!!
But the Flower Show starts this weekend :)
