I started my seedlings inside . They are leggy and look whimpy. I used those tablets in the nursery kit you get at home depot. And got a fluorescent light. Most of the tomatoes died in small pots on the heating pad. I transplanted a couple but they don't seem to be growing! And all the greens are long and fall to some side. Some even curled. Some of them I transplanted outside to my new "lasagna" garden. They look ok, but are not growing and it's been 2 weeks. This is my first time gardening. What am I doing wrong? Am I expecting too much in too little time?
Weird Leggy Seedlings, why???
How close are the lights to your plants? If they're more than a couple inches above the tops of the seedlings that would explain why they're leggy. Also, I always take mine off the heat mat as soon as they germinate, otherwise that can contribute to legginess too. As far as the ones that you transplanted outside and they're not doing anything yet, they are probably working on developing their roots, once they do a bit of that then they should start growing. But it might be a little early to be planting things outside--I don't know when your last frost date is, but if it hasn't passed yet then you'll need to run out there and protect them if you get any cold weather.
