I LOVE Find Gardening. Let my subscription lapse last summer when money was tight. Thanks for the reminder. I need to renew!!
What I am doing in my garden now!
I pick it up at Costco when they have it-they discount all the magazines by a nice percentage. Don't know if it quite matches sub rate-I'll have to calculate it up one of these days.
Thanks, Sue. I'll have to check that out. I only think of Costco for specific things and when I'm there, and I'm not really good at browsing. Unless it's a nursery, garden tour, museum or special exhibit, I'm usually in and out.
I'm here! Thanks for thinking of me :0)
Hello Rach, you have been very quiet. Are you just out working with the Faeries?
We need some pictures of emergence in your gardens up here in AK. There must be someone with flowering bushes. Lets see them.
I have quince just starting, but very sporadically. Rach, take pictures of your quince. With the sun you get, it ought to be "springing" out all over about now!!
You caught me Laurie, I have been dancing with the faeries again. Coaxing spring into all it's glory! I will go take some pics for Sofer now. Be back in a few!
Humm du du dum. Hummmm duuuu duuuu dummmm. Hummmmmmmmmm Duuuuu Duuuuu Dummmmmmm. Oh well I need to learn to wait for spring to sprung in my garden in about a month.
Sofer...I think it may be the deep resonance of your chant. Far too manly for coaxing. Perhaps try something a little lighter and aria~like?
Bonuit mon ami. Que pasque si vous plait. Quesque say petite fleur.
ah, mas as flores sao dormindo; elas precisam disso, como voce precisa ter paciencia!
Steve - I will ease your pain with pics of hamemelis, sarcococca, daphnes, viburnum bodnantense, hellebores and a very early blooming juvenile Rhody, after the rain heads east tomorrow.
Sofer ~ perfect. I can feel the petite fleurs giggling and dancing.
Well no one is awake this morning? Sounds like you all had a great day at the plant swap. I did manage to buy two Heronswood Hellabore in a nursury in Shelton. One is a beautiful violet black and the other is yellow. And a box full for St. Andrews House.
What a great find, Willow
Are they blooming now? if so please post a pic.
I would be interested at some point in time for some seeds from the black.
WW - Sounds like you got something unique. I'd like to see pictures, too. How's the weather down there? It was moist/cool up here, but there really wasn't much rain after the storm yesterday.
Did I miss a storm? was in Lynnwood all day didnt see anything. was kinda nice,
no rain.
It's starting to sound like the storm was in the foothills. It was moist and cool during the swap in Redmond, even though it didn't rain and the sun made brief appearances. Later on, there was a hail storm - we were in the greenhouse at Flowerworld. It was deafening. Then it cleared and there was a rainbow. But the weather didn't warm up much - stayed cool.
I guess it must have been just in that area, I was in and out with carryouts almost all day, we didnt even get any rain. funny weather we have been having.
The Hellebores are blooming almost full. I will save each and every seed. One is "Royal Heritage" (purple) and one in Heronswood Yellow. I also pick up two Lewisia. One is pale cream and pink and one is blue violet. Didn't have rain here until this morning with a little snow mixed in early on. I am going to cat sit for my new neighbor and she is going to teach me how to do the picture thing so I will soon be able to post pictures.
Goody, love to see your pics, and Its in the mail
Thanks you for the decal. You must have an awful lot of energy.
Not much else to do late at night, but play on the computer. Like making things that other people might enjoy.
Okay, I've caught up with all the posting for today and will be back around 7:00
I have a new dog. She is a two year old creme colored toy poodle. Her name is Amber and we fell in love right away. She has a beautiful little fairy face and is very quite and lady-like. She is already sittting in my mom's lap. I don't think she will be on the floor very much. She will be just perfect for us and especially for my HB. He can hold her and lift her easily. I'm very excited. Patricia
Wonderful - do we get to see a picture?
I will post a picture as soon as my neighbor returns and teachers me how to do it.
Oh WIllow wind. Dogs are the best therapy ever. My folks had this little toy poodle named Tigger. My Dad worked on the waterfront in Seattle unloading ships and this dog jumped ship It took my dad 3 weeks to catch the little dude. He was greasy and dirty from living between the containers. He definatly had short man complex, and was a dark chocolate color and had a short nose he was very stocky for a poodle. He had never seen grass so when he was first put out on it he didn't know what to do. Your little Amber will be great. We all loved tiggy.
Thanks Heidi, I had a toy way back in the '60s. She was cream colored also and her name was April's Golden Peaches, written with a french accent.
Willow so happy for you to find a new Fur Baby. want to see pics.
Willow,
How exciting, furbabies make life complete!
Patricia -
I'm starting a new thread just for you and Amber. Then you can post tons of pictures and we can go there for Amber updates. It sounds like she is just the medicine you all need (and vice versa).

Kathy...you are the best ~ really.
Willowind, I didn't even know there were all those colors of Hellebores. Hope I get a chance to see them sometime. Can you post pictures when they flower? The poodle sounds like a sweetie.
I thought I'd post this pic in the 'What are you doing in your garden" thread. DH got me a huge load of horse manure, kind of fresh, so I'm going to let it sit in a pile by the compost heap for a few months. Our truck unloader contraption earns its keep once again.
Now thats cool.
That picture does not tell the whole story, as it makes it look like I did all the work. Really, Harley (my DH) operated the crank for the first and heaviest part of the load, and I followed up with the second part of it after he pulled the truck ahead. All that's left is the clean up on either side of where the canvas sheet lay.
Aaaaahh. I have some serious p__p envy. ;-)
I'd offer to bring you some except that the truck is an extreme gas guzzler, and I'm not sure how the ferry workers would appreciate such a pungent load.
Thanks, Holly.
I've some big p--pers over here next door. Just need to check and see when their worming schedule is and if I can have some. My other neighbors didn't check with me when they re-homed their chickens. Now my roses would really like some of that.
My neighbor has a great little composter right outside her back door and it had red wigglers crawling up the plastic to the outside in freezing temperatures in December. I think I might NEED to break down and get one of those. It's hard to compost kitchen stuff informally out here because of all the critters.

She really loves it.
