My real estate lady told me this was a Bridal Veil, but I'm not sure at all. It never looks too healthy except when it blooms in the spring. I want to help it, but if I don't know what it is I can't take care of it as good as I want.

Looks like some sort of Philadelphus to me, but in Plant Files and Google I couldn't find a cultivar called Bridal Veil. I'm not all that familiar with Florida plants though, so it very well could be something different.

Common name, mock orange ? It may need more sun.

It is definitely some sort of Philadelphus (mockorange) and it's probably a P. x virginalis or P. x lemoinei hybrid . I've never heard of it being refered to as "bridal veil" but here in the south I find that people often just make names up for plants when they don't know the true name. Hurray for botanical names!

I have a "mock orange" purchased through a catalog years ago. I placed it , and forgot about it and it now branches up over the 8' fence but you only notice it in bloom. The rest of the time, it is just branch y?and straggly. I composted/fert the plants next to it one year and noticed it didn't help the green growth, but oh my, flowers flowers ..
It still is nothing to look at, but when it blooms you know its there!

Your photo is the same as my philadelphus and when flowering is an absolute picture it then fades into the background. I really think its hiding from a severe pruning. Some years that works. Lesley.

I have a 'bridal veil' spirea that has the same growth habit as your Philadelphus, so that would account for the name confusion.
