The leaves on my red table grape are turning yellow , but only where there are bunches of grapes. Rest of vine is fine. I hav'nt seen any sign of
powdery mildew so wondered if it may be an indication of some other problem. Have never seen this happen before , but have never grown grapes here
before either. Grew the grafted cutting in a pot for three years , it fruited the third year with 8 bunches on 3 short canes. This year I planted it in my new garden. It has sandyish type top soil but 18 ins down is a sort of sandy clay, doesn't seem to have much body to it at all. When I prepared the hole I added compost and gypsum and kept my fingers crossed. It has come thru for me with 12 huge bunches of grapes all in one area. One bunch is about 18ins
long but a lot of the grapes on that one bunch are shrivalling and looking yuk.Is this all part of the same problem with the yellowing leaves. Also how much should I water it during the hot weather. The green grape at my other place although it is really lovely too survives on its own merit and just gets pruned back
at end of season or when it gets in my way or starts climbing up the peach tree. This red one is a bit special. Hope I'm not just being a neurotic mum...
Lesley.
