Hello,
I am wondering if pine mulch (not just pine bark) from the roots and stump - that have been ground up - are bad to use as mulch for most plants. Is this type of pine mulch going to dramatically increase the acidity of the soil?
Thanks a million,
Michael
Pine mulch - good or bad?
Hi Michael,
I don't think it will dramatically increase the acidity, and pine parts is good mulch. I'm not sure about the soil there, but pine helps bring the acidity up in these clay regions which is needed...
Rj
Pine needle mulch is very popular in many parts of the country. When I lived in Savannah, we used pine needle mulch. I never checked the acidity of the soil, but I would assume it would be high since I had quite a few pine trees, and azaelas.
