Plant Identification

Asheville, NC

Recently I collected seeds from the ground underneath various oak and palm trees in Central Florida. After returning to NC, I decided to plant a few of the collection of seeds to see what would happen. While culling through the bag of seeds and dirt, I noticed this one odd seed. It appeared to be a dark colored kind of bean seed. I planted it out of curiosity and within a few days it sprouted and continued to develop at an astounding rate. I have no clue as to what it is, except that it is an interesting plant with magnificent foliage development. I have included a photo of this seedling just 2 weeks from sprouting. Can anyone tell me what it is? Regards - Roy

thought it looked a bit like the annual datura family but could be way wrong. I grew them one summer and when I crushed a bit of the foliage, it smelled awful. Hope someone else comes onto the thread to help you out a bit more than I can, Good luck. WeeNel.

Guess what guys? It turned out to be a purple Hyacinth bean. What was intriguing is that it kind of came out of no where.
Thanks for everyone's input -regards - roy

I love bonus plants like that. Now that you've got it, you can harvest some of the dried seeds and you can have as many hyacinth bean vines as you want (and then some).
