Hi Lucku, never done tulips that way, just Hyathcin's bulbs, dont know about your area, but late tulips here in UK mean they dont flower till end of April/May time, so if that was the case, then I would say you have time, as for refrigeration before hand, I cant answer that as again, we have no need for that in our climate, but I am talking outdoor bulbs, for indoor forcing, you need specially treated bulbs for this and they can be done in compost, in shallow bowls or larger deeper pots, you dont need to fertilise them as they have been treated by the grower and will already have the tiny flower already formed way deep inside the actual bulb, for water container bulbs that sit with the bulb JUST above the water level, the same growing conditions apply, that is the containers with the bulbs in water/compost have to be kept in a darkened cool place till they start to show come coloured foliage, then place them into a coldish but lighter area, soon as you see the real colour of the FLOWER show, you then place them into the position/room where you want to display them and enjoy them, you just do it all in stages, growing them this way, you wont really get good results from the same bulb the following year, so best to plant them in the soil after flowering as this will give food and energy for the bulbs to build up enough strength to flower outdoors next year. hope all this is some help to you and you have a wonderful display to enjoy. best of luck. Thanks a lot WeeNel. I am going for it.

We are in Dallas and the average temperatur here is 60F . I learnt that the late singles bloom here in May. So yesterday night I kept the bulbs in the water jar on top of some pabbles and placed them in the vegetable box of my refrigerator. And yes, I took out all the fruits from the refrigerator. I would be following the steps carefully. Hope will have a good display in May.

Thanks again.
