Jaye, here's a pic of the two sets of wires cleaned and twisted together with wire ties, nothing fancy. I may ask for a more permanent setup, but for the time being ,with me watching the thing like a hawk, its fine.

January Thaw,Peek at Spring, but snow returns
Christi, hats off to you for working alongside them! Earned their respects I'm sure. Moreover, you'd get things done your way too. Go on Christi, our own Pioneer woman!!!
Cathy, thanks..as long as the juice flows. Kel says he'll try that on both mats. He'll make a plugin for both to be controlled by one dimmer. Before he does that, I'll make sure to increase his life insurance!!!!!
Lava sand seems to have a lot of uses, haven't seem it around here, wonder if the box stores carry it or can order it?
LOuC,you be careful out there working so hard all day!!!
Beautiful frangipanis there Chrissy...I can smell them from here!
aah..thanks Chrissy ...love em.
Up early to work some overtime today...argh..but I'll be off early.
It was a beautiful day and evening...still 62 outside. I took some plants out of the green house, and fertilzed some plants..You know...the take the water bucket to the faucet to mix fertilzer, set it down to inspect a plant, re-pot it, pick up some leaves, oh yeah...fertilzer..go back...fertilze a couple things..sweep..getting things done in that round about way.
Lava Sand...LOL... a couple years ago a bunch of us on the Brug forum heard about Lava Sand from a Brug Hybridizer in Germany...There must of been 6 of us scouring the internet trying to figure it out. It was alot of fun, but learned some interesting things along the way. I do use Lava Sand..particulary in hotter weather. Of course I blogged and blogged...http://davesgarden.com/community/blogs/t/rjuddharrison/1720/
scroll down to Lava sand/soil/clay uses and application. I described what the theory is suppose to be, and then of course my own philosophical meanderings...
This is the home page. Read about how they soil is mixed and from what sources. Lucky that they have a yard about 5 miles from me on 35E. You will see that they have several locations in Dallas. RJ, Houston is home base. Juan took his trailer and picked up 2 1/2 cu. yds. yesterday. It was just a drop in the bucket. Having 6 yds. delivered next week. (think I already said that)...They have just about anything you could imagine when it comes to organic.

Hope this link works. If not it is on the website.
Wayne and I went and got mulch yesterday.. I'm not ready for any yet, so we may go again next week.
aah..worked good...thanks!
Chrissy,I'm surprised your plumerias,or fragapannis haven't drowned to death from all that rain, here they would have rotted for sure!!!
Rj,do you get your mulch in bulk or you talking by bags?
Christi, going to check out your link now!
I plant anything rottable in mostly washed river sand because it allows for perfect drainage and plenty of air.
Rj I don't know how to go into your blog thingy ,I found 77's one once a while ago but I have forgotten how, is there any way I can access it from a link ...if not how, sorry I still have lots to learn, my brother goes home on Thursday so I will have more time.
LouC wow it is really exciting, must be exhausting though.
Well it poured again all night ...here is my "snow" after the heavy deluge knocked all the flowers off
Such pretty snow. I wish I had that right now. (yours not mine)
That is a beautiful view. I made me cold just looking at that snow. I've seen to much of it lately. But I love those mountains.
That view looks better than the game right now! Thanks LApalms.
Gorgeous view!!
And the game has finally gotten a bit better now what with a touchdown and field goal by the Giants. :~)
I agree what a gorgeous view!!!!
Lovely picture LA, thanks for posting.
I hope you all enjoyed the game today, I work next to a sports bar and could hear all the cheering every time there was some kind of good play. It must have been an exciting game.
Hope you all enjoy your week.
Jen
Tropicman, I buy it by the bulk. Took the truck and they dump it in.
Chrissy, here's a link http://davesgarden.com/community/blogs/t/rjuddharrison/1720/
LAPalms....that is gorgeous!! I've always wanted to see CA.
Having computer problems here....one minute I can get on and the next...nothing! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
It's Mardi Gras in Louisiana, and I'm still here!!!!
Missing out on the fun the folks back in Louisiana are having. Not the drinking, but the parades, the throwing of beads and doublons, and screaming to the revellers on the floats..."throw me something mister!" and rushing to catch them! Supposedly to be a beautiful day for the festivities.
Guess I can imitate the revellers and throw seeds to the ground! The birds will probably catch them...
In the meantime, look what's greeting me at WM! They are not tropicals, but still put a smile on anyone's face!
Wow...Jaye...how pretty!!! The ones at my WM are already finished blooming...and sorry looking!
I don't know whether the ones I planted will make it. The weather here has been so erratic! I do spot some sprouts. Fingers crossed.
Yeah, they are cheap too Marcy, about 5 a pot. Those colours beckon you to take them home!
Rain, rain, rain today. So much rain it felt like a summer downpour. Now we will get freezing rain and snow. Don't ask how much snow. Have heard 1-8 inches just for my little area. lol. I give up on that.
I have rain coming out of my ears it feels like. Can't you tell I'm tired of rain? lol
80* and sunny on the south carolina coast!!!! spring is here!!!
:~p
Just hope there won't be a repeat of a late frost.
Friends at Midsouth enduring some bad weather. Please say a prayer.
~Jaye
Oh, that horrible late frost! That was really something.
what is the midsouth btw
Yeah, couple of my friends who owned nurseries had to dig deep into their previous years' profits to replace 2007's losses. I myself cried over a few losses.
This year, I'm listening to the old folks around me. Don't put nothing in the ground till after Easter! My hedychiums and curcumas were safe as I don't remove their mulches till late April.
Wand over Marcy's area....*No snow..no snow*
Oh thank you Jaye!!! I hope that wand works!!!! We are getting plenty of rain ....but going to get colder the rest of the week.
Diehrd..I was referring to the MidSouth Gardening Forum. There are some Carolinians, like me that frequent there. BTW, welcome to Tropical Gardening and you'll find lots of good people here.
Marcy, that wand is not a WM special!!!! Lolol... better to talk to the Numero Uno, hope He keeps you safe.
Well ,we've had thunderstorm heavy rain, lots of thunder and lightning, nickel size hail, strong winds, and all this before 5am!!!
Then changed to a freezing mist early this afternoon, now about 6inches of snow and still
coming down hard and fast!!!
And me with a head cold, sneezing running nose, headache and sore muscles!!!
Did manage to get some sabal palmetto seeds planted today in spite of feeling like a mack truck run over me!!!LOL
Don, you're the Mack truck that keeps on going! For Heaven's sake, medicate yourself and check your blood pressure regularly. You're back at work now and added stress is there, besides the unfavourable weather conditions!
Wow.....you have Patti to do all that fussing...look at me! Lolol!
Staying up, to make sure friends in Tn. escape the bad weather.
