what kind of philodendrons do you have?
I have a plain ol' heart-leaf philodendron that I've had forever, and it is a most forgiving plant! If I forget to water it, it doesn't die, but just doesn't grow. Lately, I've been real good at watering and misting, and it's finally producing more leaves. I've had it over ten years!

I think all plants, like our self, respond to some TLC, I have had several Philodendrons, heart shaped, cut leaf and variagated, the trouble is, they soon outgrow there space and either have to be cut back or passed onto someone with really high ceilings, but that is after many years, they become like part of the family or furnishings, yes, mine all did survive the odd spell on neglect and said a big thank you when they were treated kindly, just like their owners eh. good luck.
